PART 31 - Ready or Not

Buffy clutched at the sheets, gasping as Faith's tongue swabbed her from behind. It was such an amazing experience to be eaten out by her fellow slayer. Each sensation was already magnified by their connection but add in Faith's undeniable skill and it was electrifying...literally.

Burying her face against the bed, she stifled a loud whimper. Her pussy twitched as another lick landed between her labia then leisurely snaked its way to her entrance. "Omigod Faith...mmmyesssgawwwd," she arched up, groaning, "Ohhhhyou're sooo...ahhhh.. goooood."

Faith smiled against the blonde as she continued to service her. *It shouldn't be long now.* She chuckled to herself, leaning more weight on her elbows as she pressed in closer. *B so digs this...mmmm...but I know what my girl digs even more.*

Running her tongue all the way up, she licked from Buffy's vagina up to her butthole. Lightly, she flicked over the opening before kissing then sucking it gently.

Buffy nearly arched off the bed, reaching behind her to grab for the brunette and hold her in place. "Ungghhhh...gonna...nowwwww!" The slayer tried to muffle her shrieks against the mattress.

Faith didn't let up despite all evidence that Buffy had just cum. Instead she slipped a finger inside Buffy's pussy and caressed while the walls spasmed. Delicately, she slid in another digit and began fucking her, waiting for Buffy to get aroused again. It was only a matter of seconds before the blonde began to ride her fingers.

Lifting her mouth away, Faith encouraged, "That's it, B. Go for another."

*****

Forrest paced in front of his squad, awaiting the final go ahead. He was hoping it would be soon. He was just itching to get it over with before Riley returned. *That boy can't be trusted.*

The soldier thought with a frown that if it came down to it, he might have to shoot his friend, and he would too. This was all for Professor Walsh. Her work needed to be continued.

Graham scowled at his fellow commando as he shifted from one foot to the other. Messing with girls and babies was something that didn't sit right for him, no matter what his friend claimed.

"Something to say, soldier?!" Forrest barked angrily.

"You know what I think already," Graham bit out, adjusting his weapon and staring straight ahead.

"Yes, that somehow this spawn is different from any other. Those slayers aren't human so neither is their offspring!"

"Keep telling yourself that. But you still won't be able to face Riley when he returns and learns what you've done," Graham growled.

Forrest stood up close in his face and shouted, "You think I give a damn what Finn thinks! He betrayed us and our mission! And for what?! Some blonde bitch who left him for another girl! He can go to hell with them as far as I'm concerned! If he interferes at all, I'll shoot him myself!"

He eyed Graham with outrage, waiting for any objection. When none came he stepped back and addressed the group.

"Anyone who interferes with this mission is to be shot. Is that clear?!"

"Yes sir!" They grunted in unison. Graham kept his mouth closed, glancing at Forrest with disgust.

*****

Buffy fell in a sweaty heap next to her out of breath girlfriend. She had just finished fucking Faith into a stupor and was damn near exhaustion herself.

"Oh my god, that was so incredible," Buffy laughed, rolling on her side and gazing at Faith dreamily. "It just gets better each time."

"Does it?" Faith panted, trying hard to get a lungful of air.

"Must be because I love you more each day."

"Ugh, B. Cool it on the sap, okay? I love you too, but let's not get all hallmark about it." She rubbed her stomach, grimacing. Baby B was moving around quite a bit.

Buffy leaned up to look at her. "Faith, what is it?"

"Nothing." She smiled, softly. "The baby's just active all of a sudden."

Buffy's eyes grew wide, a frightened look on her face.

"B, it's nothing. She's probably just packin' up. Yunno, gettin' ready for the move," Faith said teasingly, pulling Buffy into her arms. "Relax B."

The petite slayer clung to her, confessing, "I'm scared at the thought of you in labor."

"Yeah? How do you think I feel?"

"Oh Faithy, I'm sorry." Buffy quickly realized how selfish that sounded. "I only mean that I can't bear the idea of something happening to you or the baby. Right now you're both safe and here with me. I just want things to stay this way."

Faith gasped, "Are you friggin' insane? I don't want to be this huge forever."

"You're not huge. You're perfect." Buffy muttered, trying to snuggle closer.

"Perfectly huge."

"With my baby," the blonde stated, beaming.

"Yeah, you did this to me," Faith grumbled, pressing the underside of her tummy and trying to turn away. The pains were getting sharper but she didn't want Buffy to know. *Probably nothing...need to just act cool about it...it'll go away.*

"And I can't wait to do it again," Buffy blurted, still glowing.

"Like hell! You're having the next one."

*****

Ducking into the bushes, the commandos waited for the signal. Their objective was well defined, capture the pregnant girl with minimal body count.

Graham stood up and gestured to Forrest. A group of people were violating the established perimeter.

*****

"I wish Faith would hurry up and have this baby. I would like to practice my parenting skills. I've read quite a bit about diapering and other infant needs," the ex-demon explained. "Besides I would like to see a tiny human up close. Every time I approach them in stores and other places their mothers usually get huffy and hurry off before I can have a good look."

"I wonder why." Willow snickered.

"I heard you. You and your sarcasm," Anya informed her, clearly offended.

Tara tried to smooth things over. "She didn't mean anything by it. We all would like to see the baby." She smiled gently at Anya before glancing with concern at the fumbling watcher.

Giles was struggling with the armload of gifts he carried. Apparently, word about the pregnant slayer had gotten out and the council along with several covens and other acquaintances of his had sent presents.

"Giles, do you need help with those?" Tara called out, giving Xander a pointed look.

"No, I think I have hold of them."

"Sure. You just wanna look like the big shot, giving the lion's share. We know your game." Xander joked, plucking several off the top. "Better?"

"Quite."

*****

"We should abort. Too many civilians," Graham advised, after watching the group enter the Summers' residence.

"No. We'll proceed as planned." Forrest clicked on his walkie- talkie. "Blue team enter through the rear. Red team will take the front."

*****

"It is time. Prepare the lab. Everything must be sterile for our new arrival," Adam ordered as he viewed the drama that was about to unfold.

Soon the initiative would acquire the slayer that would not only give him a child but as he recently decided, become his partner as well. He could use company and she was very pleasing to his visual sensors. After a few modifications like those done to Professor Walsh, Faith would be perfect for him.

He smiled wickedly as the zombie professor approached. "Mother, once we have them and Riley, our family will be complete."

*****

Faith bit back a scream as she grasped the edge of the sink. *Oh fuck!* Another contraction tore through the brunette's frame as her girlfriend pushed her way into the bathroom.

"Faith, why are you hiding?" Buffy asked playfully. "Shy now?" She turned the taller girl around intent on stealing a few kisses before all the guests arrived. But the expression on Faith's face stopped her cold.

"Oh my god, I knew something was wrong!" Buffy's tone was filled with panic, her face ashen as she asked, "Faith, what is it?!"

Clinging to Buffy for support, Faith uttered the words that the little slayer had been dreading, "It's time."

PART 32 - Hurrying to the Hospital

"What? No. It can't be!" Buffy exclaimed, then added in a rush of words, "It's not supposed to be...not for a few more weeks. She's not ready. I'm not ready." She steadied her girlfriend. "Faith, you can't. Not yet."

Gritting her teeth, the dark slayer held on until the pain passed. "B, I'm pretty certain this isn't somethin' I can decide, yunno? Now come on." Faith grabbed the smaller girl's hand and yanked her along, heading toward their bedroom. "Need my bag."

"Maybe you should sit down." Buffy tried to guide her to the bed.

"B-"

"No wait, lay down."

"B-"

"I'll get mom." Leaving her girlfriend in the middle of the room, the slayer ran to the head of the stairs. "Mom! Hurry!"

"B-"

Buffy rushed back in, "I told you to sit down." She shook her head. "Or lay down." Running back to the doorway. "MOM!"

When she came back in, Faith pulled her close. "B, shhhh." Kissing her softly on the lips, the brunette waited until the little blonde relaxed in her arms, then backed up. "You okay now?"

Blushing, Buffy nodded.

"Good. So if you'll jus' get my bag, we can go."

"What's wrong?!" Mrs. Summers hurried in with the scoobs and Giles close behind.

Faith spoke up first. "Nothing's wrong. I think it's time though." Embarrassed she added, "My water thing broke already an'-"

Everybody but Joyce started glancing around the floor.

"Ugh! Not in here!"

"Come on, dear." Mrs. Summers guided the younger slayer out of the room. "Buffy, get Faith's things."

"Yes, mom," the blonde called out, looking frantically around the room. "Her bag. Where's her bag?"

Tara pointed to the small overnight bag in the corner, "Is that it?"

"Yes!" Buffy raced over and snatched it up. "The book! Now where's the book?!" The slayer knelt down and began digging through a vast assortment of parenting and baby books.

"Oh this is so exciting. I'm going to be an aunt!" Anya chimed in, grabbing Xander's arm and dragging him out. "Let's go with."

"What?! No!" He squeaked, following his girlfriend reluctantly.

"Buffy, I'll uh..." Giles pointed toward the door. "..help your mother." Quickly, he made his exit. Only Tara and Willow remained with the expectant parent as she rummaged around.

"Buffy, what are you doing? It's time to go." The redhead gestured for her girlfriend to go on ahead. "Buffy, we have to-"

"No, Wil. What if we need the book? We have one for this. Hurry, help me find it!"

"Buffy, stop. You don't need it." Willow gently tugged the slayer to her feet. "Deep breaths. Just tell Faith to take deep breaths and hold her hand."

Tears were forming in Buffy's eyes as she lifted her gaze to Willow's. "Wil, I'm so scared."

"I know but it's going to be okay. I promise." The redhead hugged her best friend tight. "Non-slayers have babies everyday. I'm pretty sure Faith can handle this."

"HEY!" Faith's shout interrupted the two, "B, she's gonna be born right here if you don't get a move on!"

Breaking the embrace, Willow smiled down at the petite slayer, "Sounds like your baby's in a hurry. We better-"

"Buffy Anne Summers, get down here this instant!"

Buffy's eyes widened as she realized she was holding up the whole production. "Coming, mom. I just had to-uh." She halted mid-sentence as she careened down the stairs and almost ran headlong into Faith.

"Christ B! You trying to kill me?!" Faith complained, getting up from the stair she had been resting on. Grumbling under her breath as she made her way down, she added, "Might wanna at least wait till your baby's outta me first."

"Honey, I'm sorry. I didn't know you'd just be sitting there." Anxiously, Buffy glanced around at the group. "Why is everyone just standing here?!"

Going into slayer mode, the petite blonde began giving orders. "Mom, get the car started. Xander take Faith's bag out. Tara and Willow will drive with us, you and Anya go with Giles."

Everyone rushed out, leaving as Buffy headed for her weapons trunk. Muttering to herself, she pocketed a stake and followed the others.

"Dang little B, I swear your other mother's such a ditz sometimes." Faith huffed still standing at the banister.

*****

"Hold!" Forrest barked into the walkie-talkie as the group came out. "Wait until the target is sighted," he instructed, peering through the branches. "Do you see her?" He asked Graham who hovered to his right.

"Negative. Only other civilians. It looks as if they're in a hurry to leave."

PART 33 - Taken

Buffy suddenly stopped short and looked around.

*****

"What's she doing now?" Forrest growled in frustration, peering out at the pretty coed.

"I think she's going back in."

*****

"Hey B, back already?" Faith snickered as the door opened. "Did you bring the baby?" Buffy hurried over to her, red with shame. "No? Oh that's right. She's still in me!"

Ignoring the brunette's anger, the elder slayer carefully slipped her shoulder under Faith's arm.

"Are you ready?" She worriedly asked as Faith tensed up and grimaced.

"No. Hang on."

"Faith, don't push. Breath in deeply. Come on, slow...deep breaths..That's it." Buffy coached softly, holding her girlfriend and waiting until the contraction passed.

"Now B. We gotta go now. They're getting really close together."

As she guided Faith out the door, Buffy reassured her, "I know I've been screwing this up so far, but everything's going to be fine now. I promise."

"Wanna bet?" Forrest sneered, pointing his gun at Buffy's head and cocking it.

*****

"Angel, are you going to tell them about Cordy's vision tonight?" Gunn leaned over the front the seat. "It might ruin the party. And anyway, Faith's not suppose to have her kid for a few more weeks so not really an issue, right?"

The vampire stared straight ahead, keeping his eyes on the road. "I can't keep this from Buffy."

Wesley took a stab at it next. "Angel, we don't even know what the vision meant."

"Besides do you really think Faith would do something like that?" Fred asked, becoming uncomfortable with the growing tension.

Angel answered with a pained expression, "I don't know."

"I'm going to have to agree with Gunn and Fred on this. Angel, you shouldn't say anything to Buffy until we've had time to analyze it better. A misinterpreted vision at this critical time may cause more harm than good."

Tightening his grip on the steering wheel, the vampire didn't respond, only pressed the accelerator harder to the floor.

*****

In less than the blink of an eye Buffy flipped the hand up, knocking the gun from the masked soldier's grip. Her lightening fast move was followed by a barrage of punches to Forrest's body and then his face.

"GET HER!" He screamed in agony, stumbling back, his nose and mouth now bloodied.

Buffy tried to put herself between the soldiers and Faith, but the brunette was already being dragged off. Turning quickly, she shielded herself from another blow then reached back. Her hand just grazed Faith's outstretched one as her girlfriend was torn from her grasp.

"Noooo! Faith!" Buffy cried out as she was knocked to the ground from behind. Instantly, several soldiers surrounded her.

"Stay down, bitch!" Forrest barked, stepping in front of her with Mrs. Summers in his clutches.

The rest of the scoobies and Giles looked on, helpless to assist. They had been ambushed before the slayers had come out and were now being held at gunpoint by several of the commandos.

"Want me to shoot her?!" Forrest yelled, aiming his pistol at Joyce. "Move and I will!"

Buffy's eyes filled with tears as she glanced from her mother's frightened expression to her pregnant girlfriend, who was being roughly forced toward a van. The slayer hesitated.

"I didn't think so." Chuckling cruelly, he shoved the frightened woman to one of his men and added. "Buffy, just so you know," Forrest yanked off the black ski mask, "this is personal."

"Forrest?!" The blonde gasped, sputtering in confusion, "I don't understand. What did I ever do to you?!"

"I'll tell you what you did. You ruined everything!" He shouted, circling her as he spoke. "Things were good before you came into the picture. We had a mission. We were like a family and you took that away!"

"Okay, so you're pissed at me. Take me instead." Buffy pleaded, trying to block out the sounds of Faith being subdued. "Forrest," desperation seeped into her voice, "You don't want her. She didn't do anything to you. I did. I'm the one you want."

"No, you don't get it, do you?! Nobody wants you or her!" He sneered, leaning close to enjoy the look of horror that passed over Buffy's face as the realization hit. "That's right, just your brat!" He gestured to the soldier behind her who swiftly brought the butt of his rifle to the back of her head.

"YOU FUCKER!" Faith screamed at the top her lungs, shaking off her captors and rushing over to the small figure lying still in the grass. "Buffy! B." The dark slayer fell to her knees but before she could lift Buffy, they grabbed her again.

"I'm gonna kill you for that!" Faith spat out as she was pulled to her feet.

Forrest snickered, "You better do it fast then `cause your time's almost up." He peered around at the quiet group. "What the hell are you all standing there looking at?! Clear out! NOW!"

PART 34 - In the Initiative

Angel and company listened with growing alarm as Giles filled them in, not only on Faith's abduction but also what obstacles lay ahead in the rescue mission.

"That's not the worst of it though," Willow added, getting up from the unconscious slayer's side. "We think that Adam's there too, operating from somewhere inside."

"Oh great! So it's pretty much a fortress of evil then. All chock full of demons, vampires and mad scientists. Any ideas on how we're getting in?" Gunn snorted casting a glance at the despondent group.

"Without a better plan I'm not sure that we should try." Wesley responded, causing Mrs. Summers to react.

"Well you have to do something! My granddaughter's about to be born in that place!" Joyce cried. "With those monsters!"

"Joyce, please calm down." Giles moved toward the overwrought mother, trying to comfort her. "I don't think their intentions are to harm the baby."

"No, but they may hurt Faith." Angel growled, going to Buffy's weapons chest. "I'm sorry, we can't wait for Buffy." His eyes darted from the inert form on the sofa to the rest of the group. "We'll get in the way this Adam thing does. That means killing him first. Wesley, help Giles with the Sumerian spell. Gunn, Xander, load up on weapons. Willow and Fred stick close to me; you help Faith out once we find her."

"Angel?" Buffy's weak whimper interrupted the team.

Dropping his weapons, Angel went down on one knee next to the blonde. "Buffy, they've taken Faith. We have--"

Instantly, the slayer was on her feet. "Let's go!"

*****

Faith yelled as they forced her onto the table, strapping her arms and legs. "I'LL KILL YOU! YOU ASSHOLES!...I'M GONNA KILL ALL OF YA WHEN I GET LOOSE!"

"Then I guess you're never gettin' up from that table!" Forrest jeered.

Another string of curses came from the slayer as she kicked the soldier near her feet.

"Fool, chain her! What's wrong with you, soldier?" Forrest berated him as he moved over to Faith's side and bolted her ankle in place. "She's just a pregnant girl! How hard can it be?!"

Several of the soldiers froze and stared at their commander.

"Get the docs! Move your asses!" He shouted when the soldiers hesitated. "THAT'S AN ORDER!"

A few of the men scurried from the room but the rest lingered, looking at Forrest with mistrust.

"Stop eyeballing me right now!" He glared at the group, causing most to lower their eyes.

Only Graham continued to stare. His uneasiness grew when he glanced back at the beautiful brunette struggling against the metal cuffs. The young woman's wrists were starting to bleed as she strained to get loose, and her voice grew hoarser with each scream.

Swallowing back the bile in his throat, Graham quickly averted his gaze. He wasn't sure he had the stomach for what was about to come.

*****

When Riley entered the Initiative headquarters, he was met by several of his former squad. "What's going on?"

"Come with us." One of them barked while the others made ready to grab him should he resist.

As soon as they passed the cameras, the one leading the way stopped and turned, motioning for Riley to be dragged off to the side.

"Listen Finn. We've been ordered to arrest you, but we won't."

"I don't get it. Where's Forrest?"

"He's the one who gave the order."

"Why?" Riley's eyes narrowed and a muscle in his jaw twitched. He already knew it had to be 'Buffy related'. What else would require his arrest to keep him at bay? "Tell me now, soldier!" He grabbed the closest one and slammed him against the wall.

"We don't know, but the Colonel does," the soldier answered quickly, relieved when he felt Riley easing up.

Lowering the smaller guy to the floor Riley demanded. "Take me to see the Colonel. I'll get this straightened out."

The commandos exchanged uncomfortable looks.

"Speak up!"

"The Colonel's in the brig."

Riley's scowl grew. For Forrest to be given that much leeway, it had to be something big brewing, and something that the Colonel didn't approve of.

"Then we're getting him out!" He glanced at the men around him. "Anybody have a problem with that?"

"No sir, no!" They grunted in unison, standing at attention. After all, it was the command that they had been hoping for.

*****

"Stop pushing!" The doctor commanded angrily. He gazed down at the sweat-covered slayer who glowered hatefully back. "Tighten the restraints. She's still moving around too much."

Faith's eyes darted from the man in the doctor's scrubs to the bustle of activity around her. Apparently, they were preparing, but for what she wasn't sure. They hadn't even put her feet in the stirrups or done any of the stuff she'd read about.

Another contraction had her huffing and puffing. Faith groaned, turning her head to the side to stare at the remaining soldiers. As soon as Buffy came and freed her, they'd pay for this.

Graham shuffled his feet, meeting the pretty girl's murderous glare with a stoicism he didn't feel. If she got free, surely she'd kill them all. Of that he was convinced. Nor did he blame her when he saw the doctor raising the scalpel.

"Wait!" He grabbed the doctor's arm. "Is that really necessary? She's in labor."

"Stand down, soldier!" Forrest snapped, shoving Graham back and causing him to stumble.

"Agent, do you realize how traumatic childbirth is for the baby?" The doctor asked gruffly, turning back to the brunette. "Mark her." He directed, moving to the side. One of the scientists leaned in and carefully drew the line above Faith's pubic bone.

"Holy shit!" Faith muttered through tears. Her panic was evident as the doctor approached, ready to cut. She now understood exactly how they meant to take her baby. Arching back, she screamed at the top of her lungs. "BUFFFFFFY!"

*****

Buffy busted through the door of the fraternity house, making her way toward the elevator with the gang close behind.

"I still have my clearance," she explained, facing the mirror for the retinal scan.

*****

Watching his monitors closely, Adam tapped the screen. "Unlock all the cells in these two corridors and seal the exits."

The minions bowed and backed from the room as the demon creature rose from his chair. "I must go and get my new child."

PART 35 - A Slayer Is Born

"Now try and remain perfectly still, Miss," the doctor instructed.

Faith strained against the shackles to spit at him.

Gritting his teeth, the doctor turned to allow his face to be wiped while the head scientist berated Forrest, "Lieutenant, get her fastened down properly this instant!"

"Yes sir!" Aggravated, Forrest marched over to the slayer and wrenched the steel straps until they bit into her chest. "You oughta stop moving or they might cut into your brat."

Faith's eyes widened as she suddenly froze.

"That's right. Protect your spawn," he snarled, stepping from the table. "Go ahead. She's ready."

Graham and the other soldiers looked on in amazement, as Faith lay unflinching under the sharp blade while the doctor slowly made his incision.

*****

The chaotic scene that greeted the slayer and her companions was entirely unexpected.

"Looks like they've got other problems," Angel observed.

"It's Adam. Whatever he's planned is going down," Buffy muttered.

Wesley spoke up, "Angel, you and Buffy locate Faith. We'll hold them off."

Demons and vampires now spilled out from various corridors as the fighting began.

"No." The slayer glanced back at her watcher and the scoobies. "We need to find you guys a room to do that spell. This way. Hurry!" Buffy tried ushering the gang away from the action.

"Slayer!" A demon yelled, pointing out the group.

"Get them!" Another shouted, motioning for more to join the attack.

*****

Faith watched through tear-streaked eyes as a tiny figure was lifted from her body. "Our baby," she whispered while struggling to see; however, the doctor's flurry of activity gave the young mother no more than a glimpse.

She held her breath and listened anxiously until the sharp cries of her newborn filled the room. With a relieved sob, the brunette fell back against the table. Their baby was okay.

Standing off to the side, Graham could observe the entire scene. His eyes narrowed as he noticed the teeny creature being cleaned. She wasn't half demon or monster at all, just a needy infant, desperately howling for her mother.

"Five pounds and eleven ounces," one of the doctors announced while an assistant jotted notes. "Length is eighteen inches."

"She's small, isn't she?" the assistant remarked.

"Yes, but healthy. Listen to her. A strong set of lungs on this one." The doctors laughed as the quivering baby slayer let out another loud shriek.

Graham's attention shifted away from the baby's examination, back to the bleeding beauty on the table. She was still sliced open, apparently not worth the bother to stitch. He crept closer and gazed down.

"Where's my baby?" Faith croaked weakly, turning her head to search.

Graham stepped back, quickly averting his eyes.

*****

"Now!" Riley shouted.

He and his men burst through the lab door, catching Forrest and the other soldiers completely by surprise.

"Finn." Forrest sneered as Riley snatched the weapon from his hands.

The Colonel entered the room, glancing around at the mess. "You must be proud Lieutenant, battling women and babies." He waved toward the bawling infant, "She's quite the foe. Where's her mother?"

Riley's eyes darted from Buffy's baby to the table that several of the scientists were blocking. "Move!"

"Hold it!" Graham grunted, popping out from the corner he'd been crouching in. He moved around his friend with a pistol pointed directly at Riley's head.

"Graham," Riley spoke carefully, "Look what he has you doing. This isn't you."

"Shut up!" Forrest bellowed. "Graham, shoot him! What are you waiting for?! Man, shoot him! He's endangering the whole mission!"

The soldier peered angrily at his commander. "The mission?! This isn't part of the mission." Gradually he lowered his gun, locking eyes with Riley. "She's only a girl and the baby's human... I..I didn't know."

Riley nodded and patted his friend's shoulder before moving toward the doctors. "Out of my way! Now!" He growled at the group of Initiative toadies.

"You heard him." Graham aimed his weapon again, this time at the men blocking Riley's path.

Reluctantly they stepped aside, giving Agent Finn his first view of Faith. "Oh my god! Faith!" Hurrying to her side, he took her hand. "What'd they do?" His voice broke as he gazed down at her gaping wound.

"Where's my baby?" Faith hoarsely mumbled, "Please give her to me."

Wiping his eyes, the farm boy straightened and turned to glare at the group in the scrubs. "Who did this?!"

None of them responded since there was no way for Riley to know which of them were doctors.

"This one," Graham snarled and grabbed the man hedging toward the door. "He's the bastard that cut into her."

Snatching the gun from Graham's hand, Riley cocked back the hammer and pressed the muzzle to the man's temple. "SEW HER UP!"

*****

Angel froze, listening to the sound. It was a tiny desperate cry. *The baby!*

"Angel, what are you doing?!" Buffy rushed back and yanked her ex's arm. "We have to go. There's too many out here."

He didn't budge.

"Arghhh! ANGEL!!!"

"I can hear her." Glancing down at the blonde, he explained, "Your baby...she's crying."

"Faith?" Buffy tearfully asked.

"I don't hear her," he sadly admitted. "But I can smell her blood." Turning to Wesley and Gunn, the vampire ordered, "Get them somewhere safe. We're going for Faith and the baby alone. And do the spell in case."

"WHERE?!" Buffy sobbed, staking another attacker. "ANGEL, WHERE IS SHE?!"

Without a word, he grabbed the slayer's hand and raced toward room 314.

PART 36 - Three Heroes Help the Baby Slayer

While Faith was being tended to, Riley went over to the plastic bin where he'd seen the infant hastily deposited.

Worriedly, he peered in, but what he saw instantly washed away any anxiety. The tiny wiggling bundle was a perfectly healthy baby girl, who happened to be unusually adorable considering her age of mere minutes.

Riley grinned goofily as he took in the cherub-like features and fine dark curls capping her teensy head. Adorning her doll-sized body was the smallest hospital gown the soldier had ever seen. He chuckled, reaching to touch one of her flailing little fists. She was impressive alright, just like both her mommies.

"Hey there. It's okay," Riley spoke softly, attempting to soothe her. "Shhhhh."

"Maybe you should pick her up," Graham suggested, coming over.

"I don't know." The agent shrugged, his face reddening. "She's so small. Don't want to accidentally hurt her."

"Yeah." Graham mumbled, staring in awe at the tiny person. A hiccup interrupted her woeful cries.

They smiled as the baby took a deep breath and opened her eyes slightly to squint up at them. "Whoa...she's looking at us." Graham excitedly nudged Riley while the other commandos crowded near, now curious.

Forrest seized the opportunity to hedge closer to the door.

"Kinda cute," one of the men muttered while the rest gruffly agreed.

"Yep." Riley puffed up, but his good cheer quickly faded as the newborn scrunched her face and let out another tearful yelp.

Startled, all the soldiers stepped back. "Should she be crying that much?" Another asked.

"Yeah, Finn. That doesn't sound right. Do something."

All focus fell on the sobbing baby, leaving Forrest free to make his escape. Without making a sound, he slipped from the room, racing past Buffy and Angel.

"That's him!" The slayer shouted, chasing after the commando.

"Buffy wait!" Angel called out, following the pair.

*****

"Take her to her mother."

Riley glanced back at the brunette slayer still being treated. "Can't yet."

"Dude, I don't think they're supposed to cry like this," Graham said, awkwardly shaking the basket slightly. "Rock her. I think babies like that."

"No, idiot! She's hungry."

"Or her diaper's dirty."

"Man, she's gettin' worse."

The soldiers' apprehension grew as the shrill cries gained volume. Apparently, the baby slayer's short break was only to gather strength for a fresh bout of shrieks.

Barely conscious but no longer bleeding, Faith pulled herself up. Her baby's cries were filtering through the haze. She swatted at the doctor, demanding once again to be given her child.

"That's enough! Let her be," the Colonel commanded, waving toward several of the soldiers. "Don't let this doctor leave. He isn't finished here." Striding over to the center of the commotion, the Colonel peered down at the hapless infant. Even red-faced and huffing, she was still quite a darling. He smiled briefly before glancing back at his men with a stern look. "So what's the trouble here?"

Riley gestured helplessly at the baby. "Don't know, Sir. She--"

"For godsakes, Finn. Pick her up!" the Colonel admonished. "You can't let her carry on like that. She'll choke."

Riley nodded and reached nervously into the bin but then hesitated. "Not sure exactly how to-"

"Move it, soldier." Impatiently, the Colonel brushed the men aside. "You have to support her head. Like this." Cautiously, he lifted the newborn. "Put out your arms, Finn."

Swallowing hard, the farm boy took the ever so tiny offering from his commanding officer. He cradled her gently, relieved to see her calming slightly. Tears still leaked from the infant's eyes but her trembling had stopped.

"Bring her to me!" Faith's angry screams brought Riley back to the moment. "Give me my baby!" Instantly, he carried the miniature slayer to the brunette.

"Little B," Faith reached for her, crying. "Let me have her, please."

*****

Buffy turned the corner just in time to see Forrest's body slip to the floor. Adam had skewered him and now stood facing the slayer.

"Excellent. You came as I intended."

Buffy held up her hand, preventing Angel's advance. "No, I need you to find Faith and the baby. Get them out of here. I'll deal with Adam."

"Indeed. We have much to discuss," the monster cheerfully agreed, ignoring the vampire as he backed from the area.

*****

Faith eagerly took the baby from him, immediately checking her over.

Riley softened as he watched the dark slayer examining each hand, each foot, carefully counting the itty-bitty toes and uncurling the delicate fingers. She lifted the tiny duck decorated gown and inspected the job the doctor had done tying the cord before meticulously tucking the garment back around her little one.

Appearing satisfied that her newborn was healthy and unharmed, Faith cuddled the baby close while whispering to her, "I'm here now, little B. Shhh. I'm never gonna let anyone take you away again. I promise."

The words of comfort hardly seemed necessary since the infant ceased to fuss the second she was placed in Faith's arms.

Riley blinked to clear his vision, as did some of the other men witnessing the scene, but the brunette took no notice of them as she fixated on her baby.

"You have your other mommy's eyes. Yes, you do," Faith informed her, tapping her nose lightly.

The newborn gazed up at the blurry figure, content. She not only recognized the voice but also the tickly sensation that their slayer bond caused. It was something that she'd grown accustomed to when in the womb. Identifying her parents would never be a problem for the infant.

Relaxed, the tiny baby stretched her arms and yawned, prompting a chorus of awww's from the group.

Faith proudly snuggled her baby closer and looked to Riley. "You have to take us home. Buffy will be flipping out."

*****

The pretty blonde warily circled the half demon-half man hybrid.

Adam's eyes trained on her as he spoke. "Slayer, you cannot win here. Join me. Let us become a family."

"I have a family!" Buffy yelled as she rushed the monster.

Snapping off the spear-like weapon jutting from his arm, she sneered, "And I certainly don't want to be any part of your freak show!"

Tossing her effortlessly to the wall, Adam lifted the injured arm. An evil smirk played upon his features as the mechanism on his limb peeled back to reveal a Gatling gun.

"I have great plans for your child and Faith. Pity, you won't see them again." He fired a volley of bullets at the blonde as she raced for cover. Pausing, he waited until she peered over the console.

"Oh well, no matter. Mother never liked you anyway," Adam quipped before resuming fire.

*****

Angel burst through the door as Faith and her baby were being lifted by Riley.

"Wait! Hold your fire!" Riley shouted, nearly dropping the slayers.

"Put them down," Angel growled menacingly as he made his way toward the soldier.

"No Angel. He's helping."

The vampire halted, glancing from Faith to the unflinching commando before replying, "Then I won't kill you, if you give them to me now."

"I can handle this. I'm taking them to Buffy." Riley warned, determined not to part with either of Buffy's prized possessions. He intended on protecting them and delivering both to her personally.

"Boy, you and these fools can't handle anything. This whole compound is under attack. Now give me the girl and the baby. I can get them to safety."

"Wha-what are talking about?" The lead scientist sputtered, looking around in panic.

"Okay, let me spell it out," Angel snarled, grabbing the man's collar. "Your pet project has let out all the other baddies and now they're shredding your men. Is that clear enough for you?!"

The scientist whimpered, wetting himself when Angel slipped into game face.

"UGH!" Disgusted, Angel tossed the man down and walked over to Buffy's most recent ex.

"Take them," Riley said, surprising the vampire as he gave the girls freely.

Faith tightened her hold on the baby as Angel adjusted them both in his arms. Once secure, she asked anxiously, "Where's Buffy?"

Angel looked away sadly, causing Faith to choke back a curse. Buffy was in trouble, and there wasn't a thing she could do. She had to look out for their baby first.

Fighting back her urge to find Buffy, Faith mumbled miserably, "Get us outta here."

Angel nodded, allowing himself only the briefest peek at the little one while Riley spoke. "Listen, the only way out is through the main exit. My men and I will cover you." Riley took the weapon Graham was handing him. "I'll hang back and make sure no one follows."

"No," the Colonel interrupted. "Two squads, Finn. I'll lead the one at the rear. You stick close to the girl and baby." The soldiers hesitated. "Alpha team with Finn, now! That's an order."

Graham and some of the others glanced back at their Colonel before leading the vampire out. The old soldier had basically sacrificed himself, and they knew it. Riley straightened up and saluted then rushed out with the rest.

"What are we supposed to do?" One of the scientists asked in desperation.

The Colonel coldly considered the Initiative staff that remained before remarking, "I suggest you find yourselves weapons." He marched out, leaving the baby-snatching doctors and scientists to fend for themselves.

PART 37 - Something To See

Riley and his men kept their word, managing to get not only Faith and the baby slayer to safety but also the rest of Angel Investigations team.

Piling into the car, the group dispensed with any celebration the instant their eyes fell on the shivering brunette.

"Oh my god, Angel! What'd they do to her?!" Fred asked, anxiously lifting the blood soaked sheet.

"They cut her open to take the baby. We have to get her to a hospital. Now!"

"You got it." Gunn peeled out, letting Wesley direct him while Fred climbed over to the back seat to help with Faith.

"It's okay. It just looks like the stitches didn't hold. If we can get her there fast then-"

Angel interrupted, "She's already lost a lot blood."

"Five by five here, soul boy," Faith whispered hoarsely, smiling up at the vamp.

Angel tried to return the smile but at the moment wasn't feeling too confident. Faith was bleeding to death in his arms, and there wasn't a thing he could do about it.

"B will make it," the dark slayer rasped, almost insistent.

Angel held the battered beauty a tad tighter, trying not to allow his fear to show. What if he lost them both? Gritting his teeth, he muttered, "Buffy will be fine."

"Faith, maybe you shouldn't try to talk," Fred suggested while dabbing the slayer's forehead. "You've been through a lot."

"Yeah," the brunette mumbled. "But you know, I've never had anything to show for it before." Very lightly, she blew back the bit of blanket hiding her baby's face.

"Oh!" Fred squeaked, delighted as she gazed down at the tiny newborn. "Faith, she's adorable."

Angel grinned too, getting his first good look at the baby. She seemed a perfect composite of the two slayers.

Reaching out, the slender Texan gently touched the baby's puffy, pillow-soft cheeks and giggled as the little one scrunched up her nose. "What's her name?"

"Elizabeth Joyce Summers," Faith said softly, kissing the top of her sleeping infant's head.

"That's a pretty name."

"Thanks." Faith proudly cradled the newborn closer, informing them, "She's going to be just like Buffy. So she's my baby B."

Angel's smile faded when he felt Faith shudder slightly. "Gunn, faster."

"Yeah, almost there."

*****

Grasping the power source, the petite hero yanked it from the monster's chest. She held it out for him to see.

"But how-?" With one final gasp Adam crumpled to the floor.

Still possessed, Buffy gazed dispassionately at the object in her hand. Her orange shaded eyes focused until the item burst into a bright flame and disintegrated. Behind her the barricaded door gave way.

"Buffy!"

She turned and looked at the soldier, allowing his approach. Everything was starting to fade.

Falling back, Buffy collapsed into Riley's arms.

"Hey!" He lifted her with the utmost care. "Buffy?"

"Huh? What happened?" Seeing Riley was a surprise.

"We have to get out," he explained. "My men are setting charges to blow this place."

"NO!" She scrambled to her feet, her memory returning full force. "Faith's here! And my baby!"

"Not anymore. Angel has them." Grabbing the slayer's arm, he ushered her toward the door. "The others are sitting in some type of trance."

"The spell," Buffy muttered, rushing into the room. She entered just as Spike cracked a demon's neck and dropped the body in front of the startled scoobies.

"Nasty bugger! You're lucky I was around," the vampire bragged. Following the gang's gaze, he spied the super slayer approaching. "Yeah, jus' helping your groupies, slayer. Ask `em." Peering at the pretty blonde, he noticed her enraged expression and backed up. Was she going to stake him on the spot? Fearful, Spike feigned concern. "And what of the wee one? She okay?"

Buffy looked at her ex, relaxing as the Iowa boy grinned. "She's perfect, Buffy."

An explosion rocked the structure, nearly knocking the group on their asses.

"Great catching up. Gotta go!" Spike raced down the corridor with Buffy and her friends close behind. For once the bleach blond vampire had the right idea. It was time to get the hell out of there.

*****

Angel placed the barely conscious brunette on the gurney while the staff bustled around her. As soon as they had arrived, Fred hurried in ahead to alert the nurses.

"What happened?" A doctor barked, hovering over the bloody teenage girl. Pulling back the sheet, he noticed the merely hours old newborn she gently clutched. "What the-! Nurse, take the baby!"

"Nooooo!" Faith shrieked as one of the nurses tried to delicately extract the infant from her arms. "Noooo. Don't touch her!"

"Faith!" Angel quickly crowded back in. "Listen to me. You have to let them take her for now. These are good doctors. Okay?"

Tearfully, she shook her head, "But then I can't protect her."

"You don't need to. I will. I won't leave her side. I promise."

Faith stared at the vampire for a moment then reluctantly released her baby. Angel hardly had time to give a reassuring smile before the former rogue slayer was whisked away.

Swallowing hard, he straightened up and glanced back at his crew. "I'll be with the baby. Gunn, you stick with Faith. Wesley, contact Buffy's mother. Fred, wait for the others."

*****

"So you're the father?" The nurse asked as Angel accompanied her.

"Sort of."

When she frowned, the vampire quickly leaned close and whispered, "She has two mommies."

"Oh!" The nurse exclaimed, peering at Angel.

He winked.

"Okay, then you just wait here while the doctor looks over little.." she paused.

"Elizabeth Joyce," the vampire offered, grinning at the flustered nurse.

"Yes, well-"

"Is that her?" A man called out from behind them.

Angel's eyes narrowed as he regarded the out of breath man in doctor's scrubs.

"And who are you?"

"Dr. McReynolds. I'm Faith's doctor." He nudged past the vampire. "Nurse, get her into the exam room now."

"Hey-" Angel grumbled as the door swung shut, leaving him on the other side.

"It's okay, papa. Your baby's in good hands now. Dr. McReynolds is one of the best," another nurse assured, giving the disheartened vampire a pat.

PART 38 - Buffy and Baby B

Dr. McReynolds gingerly turned the tiny tot, scrutinizing every inch of her. She was in perfect health. A bit fussy maybe. But not a thing wrong with her, despite her rather petite form.

"You're a tiny one," the nurse closest chirped, enjoying the cute little patient who now scowled openly at them. "Awww and grumpy too."

Ignoring the cooing nurses, Dr. McReynolds made some notes while heading for the doors. "Let's get her cleaned up and fed. I'll continue her exam after I check in on her mother."

Stepping into the hall, the doctor ran headlong into Angel.

"Uh, sorry." Angel reached out to steady the startled man. "It's just that I need to be in there. I promised Faith."

"And you are..?" Dr. McReynolds asked, eyeing the vampire with suspicion.

"I guess you can say I'm the baby's father."

"I see." The doctor responded, obviously skeptical. He glanced down the corridor and motioned toward some of the police who had just entered.

Angel followed his gaze. "No, wait. You don't understand."

Just as the officers grabbed Angel, Buffy came skidding around the corner. "Where are they??? Where's Faith? Where's my baby?"

"Buffy," the doctor sighed, relieved to see the pretty young girl. "Faith's in surgery. I was just about to find out her status. Perhaps you should wait here--"

"No!" Roughly, Buffy shook off the guards trying to hold her. "I want Faith and my baby! You can't keep them from me!"

Riley and the rest of the scoobies hurried over as Angel shoved the officers aside with ease. "Buffy, Faith's in surgery but they have the baby in there."

Without a moment's hesitation, the slayer burst through the doors. Only stopping dead in her tracks when she spied the teensy figure on the table. The nurses were just finishing fastening a pair of mini- footie pajamas. But the sudden disruption caused all heads to turn including that of the tiny slayer.

Tears choked up the blonde as she rushed to the table and peered down at her baby for the first time.

"Hi there," Buffy whispered, tenderly touching her cheek.

The infant gazed at her with apparent interest.

"I'm your mommy." Eagerly, the blonde lifted the newborn and held her close, kissing her and chattering on.

Angel and the other scoobies looked on from the doorway, grinning as Buffy took the bottle and held it for her baby still talking as if the little one understood.

"Where's my granddaughter?" Joyce made her way through the group, covering her mouth when she saw the perfect bundle Buffy now held. "Oh honey, she's beautiful."

Smiling at her mother, Buffy gently passed the baby to her. "I have to see Faith."

"Of course, dear." Mrs. Summers took the baby happily, carrying her toward the door for the scoobies to see.

"Wait," one of the nurses called out. "We need to put this on her." Taking the newborn's itty-bitty arm, the nurse snapped a hospital ID bracelet around her wrist. "There. Now she's all yours. Stay in the nursery ward though please."

"Ooooh please, can I hold her," Willow begged unable to hold back her excitement.

"Geez, you'd think she was a hot potato," Xander joked as the baby was passed yet again.

"Tara, look at her. She's so small. Awww."

"I want one." Anya announced, elbowing Xander. "We have to have a baby and soon."

Mrs. Summers ignored the excited chatter among the teens and tenderly took the baby's tiny wrist. Turning it, she read the ID bracelet with a smile.

*****

"Buffy, she's going to make it." Angel came up behind the blonde and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"I know. It's just that...Well, I should've been there. I should have protected her better. Angel, they could have killed her." Buffy began to cry, turning to bury her face against the vampire's chest.

"But they didn't. Everything's fine."

He held the slayer while she let out the frustration that had built up during the long and harrowing day.

Sniffling, the blonde pulled back in embarrassment. "I think I need to...you know."

Angel grinned as he grabbed up a box of kleenex and held it out.

"Buffy," Dr. McReynolds poked his head into the waiting room. "She's not awake yet, but I don't see any harm in letting you and the baby see her."

*****

When Faith awoke it was to a wonderful sight, Buffy sitting cross- legged in the chair next to her bed, holding their baby and balancing a bottle with her chin while desperately trying to scratch her back.

"Need help with that?"

"Huh?" Buffy bumbled with the bottle, glancing up startled.

"Geez, don't drop her," Faith teased, smiling as the blonde climbed onto the bed next to her. "So what do you think? We made a good one, right?"

"Mmm-hmm," Buffy murmured, carefully laying the baby next to her before leaning over to kiss Faith.

The brunette grinned, gripping Buffy tightly and returning the kiss with great enthusiasm. The only one slightly disgruntled was the infant sandwiched between the two. Not only had her meal been interrupted but it also appeared that both her mommies had forgotten her. Scrunching up her face, she gathered a breath ready to yelp, but Faith pulled back just in time.

"B, our baby's still hungry."

"Yeah, she has your appetite I guess. That was her third bottle."

Faith frowned as she gently lifted the newborn. "I don't want her drinking formula."

"I know that, but you were kinda out of it. What was I suppose to do, make her starve?" Buffy complained as she dutifully assisted Faith in opening her gown. "Are sure that you're okay to--"

Baby B instantly latched on to Faith's exposed breast, causing Buffy to arch an eyebrow and glance at her counterpart. "Wow, she is a little piggie."

*****

Dr. McReynolds scowled at Riley as he slammed down the phone. "I don't care what agency you say you're from. Or what cockamamie story they give you to tell."

The soldier started to speak, but the doctor hushed him.

"I don't want to hear anymore cover stories. I don't know exactly what the military intended on doing with Faith's baby. I can only guess. But listen to me clearly now, no one is taking either of my two patients anywhere. Pass that on to your superiors, young man."

Dr. McReynolds waved to the officers still milling about. "Keep him and anyone else who isn't immediate family away from Faith and her baby."

PART 39 - No Teasing Allowed

"Angel, will you hold Elizabeth for a minute? Mom's at the store, and I want to go check on Faith."

"No, I--"

Buffy ignored his protests, placing her baby gently in the vampire's arms and smiling.

"There you go. She's not so heavy, is she?" The slayer teased, hovering near as her ex awkwardly adjusted the infant in his arms.

"But she's doesn't like me," Angel sadly noted, trying to pass the baby back to her.

"That's silly," Buffy dismissed, leaning over to peek.

Sure enough the itty-bitty slayer was staring at the vampire with a fierce little expression. "Elizabeth, noooo. No frowny face." Slightly embarrassed, Buffy lightly rubbed the crease on her newborn's forehead, trying to massage away the frown. "Honey, please stop that. You're hurting Uncle Angel's feelings."

"Hey, what's up?"

Both Buffy and Angel glanced up to see Faith descending the stairs.

"Faith, what do you think you're doing?! Get back in bed!"

The dark slayer chuckled, winking at Angel. "She's always so demanding."

"I'm serious!" The older girl grumped, reaching to take Faith's arm.

"Yeah? Well I wanna know why soul boy's back in town." Shaking off Buffy's hand, she drew closer to look at their baby. "Besides, what's all the fuss?"

"Nothing. Elizabeth is being disagreeable."

Faith grinned proudly. "No she's not. That's her first slayer face. Look. See the 'I'm gonna stake your butt' sneer. Just like you B."

Angel smirked, suddenly less offended as he lifted the baby near to test the theory. Again the teensy slayer stiffened and scrunched up her face. He and Faith laughed, amused by the baby's attempt to appear ferocious.

"That's hilarious. Angel, hang on and I'll go get the camera."

Buffy was instantly annoyed. "No! Give her to me, right now."

"Geez, relax. She's not crying or anything." Tenderly, Faith touched her baby's cheek. "Right, little B? You're not scared."

Gazing at her mother, the newborn's expression softened.

"I don't care. I don't like you guys screwing around like that." Buffy nudged Faith aside and carefully took Elizabeth from her ex. "I've seen enough teasing to know when it's being done. Shame on both of you!" In a huff, the blonde stomped off toward the kitchen.

"Damn, what's with her?" Faith grumbled before glancing back at the contrite vampire. "So Angel, why are you here?" She slugged him playfully in the arm as he cleared his throat. "Not that I'm not glad to see you or nuthin', but usually it means some serious shit is up." Observing his hesitation, Faith worriedly peered in the direction Buffy had gone. "You haven't told B yet, have you?"

"No." Angel reached into his coat pocket and removed an envelope. "Some papers stolen from Wolfram and Hart. We need Giles' input on these."

The slayer became quiet as she considered the packet. "Does it have to do with anyone here?"

"It might. That's why Wesley hoped Giles would have time to work on these translations. We've been a bit swamped lately. Cordy issues, and now Darla and Druscilla."

"Yeah, we heard. I wish we could lend a hand, but we have the baby and stuff so," Faith walked toward the front door and opened it.

"I realize that. Wesley only wanted to give Buffy the heads up in case this did involve you," Angel explained, furrowing his brow when the slayer motioned for him go.

"Nope. Not a good plan. It'll only make B more stressed than she already is. Take the papers to Giles, but leave my girl out of it for now."

"Faith, I don't think that's --"

"Aw c'mon Angel, hasn't she had enough headaches?" The beautiful brunette gave him a pleading look. "She never gets a break."

When the vampire hesitated, Faith saw her chance.

"Tell ya what. The second Wes and Giles figure it out, you bring it to me, and I'll take care of it personally. B never needs to know. Deal?"

Reluctantly he agreed, exiting as Mrs. Summers was coming in. The two almost collided.

"Oops!"

"Sorry Joyce." He assisted the package-laden woman in gaining her footing.

"Hi Angel. Visiting again already?" Mrs. Summers barely finished greeting him before Faith rushed over to shove him along.

"Yeah, but he can't stay Mrs. S. Things to do." The slayer waved. "Later. I'll tell B you said good bye."

Joyce eyed the teenager with suspicion. "Faith, is everything alright?"

"Yeah, sure. Angel had some business in town so he dropped by." Grabbing the bags the older woman was carrying, Faith attempted to wrest them from her. "Lemme help you."

"No sweetie, I've got them. Why are you downstairs anyway? Where's Buffy?"

"Right here, Mom." The blonde appeared from the other room still scowling. "Where'd Angel go?"

"He left. He had to get back to L.A."

"Good!" Buffy snapped, waiting impatiently for her mother to put down the packages. "Mom, can you watch Elizabeth for a while? I have something to discuss with Faith."

"Great," the brunette muttered sarcastically while going up the stairs.

"Of course, dear." Mrs. Summers eagerly accepted the sleeping infant, warning Buffy in a hushed tone, "Remember, even if you argue, I expect you to keep it down, young lady. My granddaughter needs her sleep."

Buffy bit back an angry retort. How dare her mother accuse her of not putting her own baby's welfare first?! Gritting her teeth, she turned to follow after her girlfriend. Faith was definitely in for an unpleasant lecture.

Pushing open their bedroom door, Buffy entered in full rant mode. "Why on earth would you think upsetting our baby is funny?!"

"Shhh," Faith clicked the lock, startling the blonde. She had been hiding and came from behind. "Quit with the drama, okay?" Snatching her fellow slayer up in her arms, she made for the bed.

"Put me down!" Buffy chided, now concerned about Faith's stitches.

"No prob." Falling onto the mattress, Faith held the blonde firmly on top as they landed, then let go. "There."

"Ugh! Faith, what the hell--?!"

"Chill B. Our baby's sleeping." Faith spoke softly, nuzzling Buffy's neck while slowly caressing her. "If we don't wake her, we can have some fun."

Swallowing hard, Buffy held still, trying to get her bearings. She was supposed to be pushing Faith away. It was way too soon for them to make love.

Buffy paused as she struggled for words. "Faith, we have to--" Silky lips nibbled her neck.

Shivering, Buffy whimpered, "Not fair." What was she going to say? "Faith, wait...we should..uhhhhmmm..Fai--" A moan escaped her lips as Faith's hands found their way under her skirt and very quickly into her panties. "I..I.."

"You like that?...Yeah, you do." Faith's voice was hoarse as she felt the smaller slayer's drenched sex. Buffy ached for it also. The brunette growled and rolled over, pinning Buffy underneath. "Fuck, you're so wet...Got me going bigtime." Faith began to pant as she stroked Buffy's clit faster. "I swear I'm gonna cum jus' from tasting you. I want you so bad."

Desperately, Buffy shifted her weight trying to dislodge the fevered slayer. "Faith, no. The doctor said--"

"Forget him! He doesn't know what he's talking about. Slayer healing here." Faith locked on the green eyes staring up at her. She grinned as the blonde's eyelashes began to flutter. "That's it, B. Cum for me...Cum all over my fingers... I'll lick `em off then I'll suck your sweet pussy."

Buffy shuddered, groaning as she came. Faith's dirty talk was the final factor bringing her over the edge.

"Love you," Faith grunted, sliding two fingers into the blonde. Delicately, she pumped in and out of Buffy, enjoying the blonde's uncontrolled trembling as she got her off once more.

"Ahhhhh..Fai..Faithy." Closing her eyes, the older girl fell back in ecstasy. She intended on returning the favor the instant she could function again.

Removing her fingers with a pop, the dark slayer brought them to her lips. She waited until Buffy looked, then sucked them clean while the blonde stared in mute fascination.

"You know what I want now, don't you B?"

Nodding, Buffy hiked up her skirt and spread her legs.

"Whoa. Definitely gettin' lucky." Faith scrambled lower, settling between Buffy's thighs before the prissy one could change her mind. Blowing lightly on the over-heated flesh, she grinned as the blonde arched toward her mouth.

"Faith...please do it... please lick me," Buffy begged.

Immediately, Faith crushed her lips to the velvety folds and kissed Buffy's pussy as if she was french kissing her on the mouth.

"Ahhhhhhhh." Teary-eyed, the pretty blonde quivered with each loud slurp. Faith was lapping up every drop. It was such a turn-on. Entwining her hands in the raven locks, she held the other girl to her as she came a third time. Her hot cream was drizzling directly into Faith's mouth. Babbling, she clutched the brunette. "Ohhhghhaa..Fai..love you... so much...I love you...ahhhhh...love you."

She rocked against Faith's face, letting go with a giggle and falling back. A thin sheen of sweat glistened along her taut golden body. Smiling goofily, she tugged at the dark slayer's hair. "Hold me."

Faith lifted herself and quirked an eyebrow at her dazed partner. "Wasn't exactly done yet."

"I promise only a few minutes." Sleepily, Buffy reached for Faith. Her pout faded as the dark slayer wrapped her arms securely around her. "And when I get up we'll work on a sister for Elizabeth."

"Shit," Faith rolled her eyes, kissing her girlfriend and hugging her tighter. *Hell, might as well get some sleep before baby B's hungry again.* With a yawn, she yanked the comforter over them and laid back.

PART 40 - Saying Goodbye

The phone ringing woke not only the slayers but the baby too. Faith jumped out of bed, "I'm awake." She found Buffy already dressing. "Where's your mother?"

"Probably taking care of Elizabeth."

They made it down the stairs to find Giles and the gang being ushered in.

"Honey, Cordelia's on the phone waiting." Joyce held Elizabeth close, rocking her gently. "We'll be in the nursery."

"What's going on?"

Giles came forward indicating that they should go into the living room.

"Buffy, you get the phone. I'll talk to them."

"Faith, there's no easy way to say this but from the materials Angel dropped off we've learned of a new threat. It's in Los Angeles."

"I can't. I won't leave my baby. I know I said I would but Elizabeth isn't ready." The brunette ducked her head down, feeling helpless.

"Maybe you won't have to. Buffy should be able-" Giles bit back his frustration as Faith interrupted.

"Whoa, no way you're not taking her if I can't be there to protect her."

Buffy entered the room. "It's Angel. Faith, I have to go. Something has happened to him."

The younger slayer eyed her with uncertainty.

With one word the blonde convinced her. "Darla."

Willow and Tara tried to reassure the new mother, "Don't worry." "Everything will work out."

"We'll be here for you and the baby," Giles said in earnest, watching as Faith and Buffy moved into the foyer.

"I guess this is it, B. I knew slayer duty wouldn't wait forever."

"It's not slayer duty. It's Angel. He's lost it. Cordy told me he's changed and not for the better and all hell is breaking loose out there."

"Then he needs you." Faith spoke flatly.

Buffy gazed at her questioningly.

"He's been there for us. We should do the same."

The super slayer grew quiet.

"I guess this is goodbye." Faith swallowed back tears.

"Just for a little while, Faith. I'll be back soon. Take care of our baby." Buffy cried openly as she hugged the younger girl, kissing her several times. "God, this is so hard. Saying goodbye."

"Buffy, you come back to us. Promise." Faith met Buffy's eyes. They knew there was a chance she wouldn't survive. There's always that chance but more so with Angel crazed.

Buffy glanced up at the stairs. Her mother was carrying the baby down.

Faith stood stoically while Buffy kissed their child, whispering something to her.

The slayer gathered her weapons and left not bothering to take anything else. If she looked one more time at Faith and her baby she wouldn't be able to go.

The door closed on a grief stricken group. It felt so final.

The End
