Fred came into the room and put the tray down. "How is she doing?"
Faith looked up, exhausted. "The same."
"Faith, why don't you go get some rest. I'll sit with her for awhile." Fred gently nudged Faith from the chair. "Come on. Angel's getting worried about you."
Faith hesitated but Fred gave her a stern look. It was so cute that the slayer relented. "Alright. I'll be back in a few."
Fred watched her leave then remembered that she promised to read a paper for Gunn. "Ooh!" The slender brunette cursed herself as she rushed from the room.
Buffy groaned and opened her eyes. "Faith? Faith." Whispering in a hoarse voice, the little slayer tried to climb from the bed, but Fred had already come back in.
"No, Buffy. Stay laying down. Is there something I can get for you?"
"Never mind." Buffy turned away teary eyed. "She won't want to talk to me anyway." The blonde mumbled sadly.
"What?" Fred leaned closer.
"Nothing."
Nightmares littered Faith's mind as she slept. Visions of Buffy's death… visions of her own death at Buffy's hands… The dark slayer cried in her sleep. Her last dream was that Buffy was restored and hated her again. Faith woke up with a start.
"Buffy!"
She jumped from her bed and headed toward the older slayer's bedroom. Giles and Angel stood outside the door talking.
Faith glanced nervously at them. "She woke up." Angel responded, answering her unspoken question
The brunette's face lit up. "Did she want to talk to me?"
The door opened slightly and Fred slipped out.
"Did she ask for me?" Faith was hopeful.
"No." Fred felt bad as Faith's face fell so she rushed to reassure her. "She's not really with it right now."
"That's okay." The dark slayer turned to go. "I guess I'll go out with Spike and slay somethin'."
"Yes, that's a good idea Faith." Giles smiled sympathetically.
Faith suddenly felt so foolish. *What was I thinking?! I'm so stupid! Of course she still hates me!* The slayer raced out without even grabbing her coat.
Angel glanced back at the watcher. "I'll check on her."
"Thanks." Giles nodded to the vampire before stepping into Buffy's room. The little blonde was laying with her face buried in her pillow, sobbing.
Three days passed with Buffy refusing to come out of her room.
"Giles, I can't… not yet."
The watcher sat down on the edge of her bed. "Buffy, yes you can. You're ready. You will have to face them sometime. And they understand that wasn't you."
"But it was. I remember it. I remember everything." The little slayer covered her face in shame. "It was like I was there, but I couldn't stop myself."
"Yes, that's my point. You had no control, but even in that state you didn't kill anyone." The statement unintentionally came out as a question.
Buffy looked up. "No Giles, I didn't kill anyone but vampires and demons." She paused then averted her eyes. "But I did just about everything else."
Giles took her hand, but remained quiet. "Buffy, it wasn't really you. There was some other entity in there with you. Something evil was pulling the strings. It could have been worse if some part of you wasn't present and resisting."
Wiping at her tears, Buffy glanced at her watcher. "You don't know what it was like, Giles… being there… hurting everyone you care about… watching them suffer… unable to stop…"
"No, you're right. I don't know. But there's plenty of people down there that are working on their redemption also." He removed his glasses and began cleaning them. "Take Angel for instance, was he responsible when he lost his soul?"
The little slayer contemplated the question. "I… I suppose not."
"Well, it's similar circumstances. And I know from talking to them that there isn't one person down there that isn't ready to put this all behind them. Your friends have missed you so much, Buffy." He chuckled a little. "In fact, Willow is threatening to force her way in if you don't come downstairs today."
Buffy gave a small smile and sniffled. "Alright. But if it's too weird I running up here and hiding again." They both smiled as Giles patted her leg.
"Okay, then we will see you downstairs for dinner?" The watcher stood up to leave.
"Yeah." Buffy meekly agreed, waiting until he left to crawl out of bed.
"Is she coming down?" Willow rushed up to him the moment he came down the stairs.
"Yes. And I want everyone to be on their best behavior. If there are any lingering resentments save the confrontation for another time." Giles glanced around the room, waiting for everyone's nod of agreement. He was relieved that at least Spike and Kathryn had left. Those two seemed the most resistant to forgiving his slayer. Although he knew Spike would come around once Kathryn returned to New York. He peered over at Faith who sat quietly, staring at the floor.
Angel picked up on it. "Faith, would you like to go slaying after dinner?" That usually improved her mood.
The brunette perked up a little. "Yeah, sure."
All focus shifted as Buffy made her way down the stairs. Faith gazed up at her. The little blonde never looked prettier in her opinion. She swallowed down the lump in her throat and looked away.
Seeing Faith's reaction, Buffy choked back a sob and continued down the stairs. "Hi…" She glanced around the room bashfully, relieved to see Spike and Kathryn missing from the group.
Everyone gave her an uncertain smile. Willow raced over to hug her. "Buffy, I can't believe you're back. You have no idea, how hard it was without you." The witch cried as she clung to the little slayer. Tara came and hugged her, and even Fred.
"Hi, you don't know me, but I was worried too." Fred babbled as Buffy returned the hug.
Cordelia even came over for a hug. "I'll say one thing, whatever side you're on, the other side always has to watch out." The seer gently teased as she gave Buffy a peck on the cheek. Peering over at Angel, Cordy tipped her head indicating that he should come hug Buffy too.
Angel awkwardly cleared his throat, embracing the little blonde in a tight bear hug. Faith sat watching everyone hug Buffy. She could probably sneak in a turn too. The brunette could feel her palms getting sweaty and her throat dry. She wanted to, but what if Buffy told her to get lost… and it would be in front of everyone too. Faith remained firmly planted in her seat.
The small slayer couldn't help but notice that everyone hugged her except Faith. Even Gunn and Fred hugged her and she didn't even know them. Buffy lowered her head and took a seat at the table. She glanced over in Faith's direction but the brunette wasn't looking. Buffy smiled as she sat back and watched Faith play with her mashed potatoes.
Peering over, Faith caught Buffy staring. They both looked away uncomfortable. Witnessing the awkward exchange, Tara quickly spoke up. "Buffy, maybe you can go with Angel and Faith tonight and help out with the newest baddie. He runs a vampire cult. Tha… that is if you're ready." The witch stuttered out the last part as both slayers' heads snapped up and turned in her direction.
Angel saw the opening. "Yes, we could use the help. Tonight Wesley and Gunn were coming too, but another slayer would really improve the odds."
Buffy glanced over at Faith, but the younger girl didn't seem to be paying any attention. She sat listlessly pushing food around on her plate. "Yeah, sure. I'll go."
Faith felt the first glimmer of hope and couldn't hold back her smile. Shoveling her food down fast, the brunette quickly finished and headed upstairs, just to freshen up.
Faith gave herself once last check in the mirror before she headed out. She was wearing the new clothes from her and Cordelia's last shopping trip and had even curled her hair. Deciding that she now looked marginally acceptable she slipped from her room and down the stairs to wait for the others.
When Gunn saw her, he whistled and Fred chimed in, "My, don't you look snazzy."
Faith had to fight back her blush as she felt Buffy's eyes on her. Luckily Angel and Wesley stepped in. She was saved from the embarrassment of explaining why she had dressed up to go slaying. "Are you ready to go?"
Faith smiled at the vampire. "Totally. Jus' lemme get my sword." The brunette reached into the weapons cabinet and removed her favorite sword. Swinging it around expertly, she gave him a dimpled grin. "Let's go dead boy. Time to kick some vamp ass."
Cordelia walked past Buffy and whispered. "You have a little drool, right here." The seer teased, wiping at corner of her mouth.
Trying to appear all business, the little slayer quickly headed for the door. "How many are there?"
"Don't know. Dead boy here thinks there's a nest. Jus' like old times, huh B?!" Faith's eyes sparkled with excitement as she raced to the car and jumped in the back. *Please let her sit in back. Please, I so totally hope she sits in back.* The brunette smiled happily as Buffy got in the car next to her.
Faith glanced over at Buffy, the little blonde was peering out the window. *Wow! She's so perfect and cute.* The younger slayer sighed without realizing it.
Buffy turned and gave her a questioning look causing her to blush again.
"Hey, watch it!" Gunn cursed as he hit the brakes. A car had turned right in front of him. Faith wasn't wearing her seat belt, but she felt Buffy's arms go around her and catch her.
"Careful, Faith. You really should wear your seatbelt." Buffy gently pulled the younger girl against her. *Mmm.. Faithy.* She held on to her a little longer than necessary before letting the confused and somewhat embarrassed girl go.
"We're here." Angel jumped from the car. "Okay, Buffy. You and Faith go around back. Me, Wesley and Gunn are going through the front. Enter in five."
Before Faith could even respond, Buffy grabbed her hand and pulled her along. The young slayer wore a sappy smile as she was dragged around to the back by Buffy. "On the count of three."
"Huh?" Faith was only aware of one thing, and that was Buffy's hand holding hers.
"One.. Two.. Three." Buffy lifted her foot and kicked in the door. The excitement began.
It all happened so fast for Faith. There she was by Buffy's side kicking vampire butt, and then the next thing she knew Buffy was shouting something. "What?" Faith called out over the noise.
"Behind you!"
Faith spun around in time to be slashed across her ribs by some demon, and the only thing Faith could think to say was, "What the hell are demons doing here?! Isn't this a vamp nest?!"
The drugging effect hit immediately and the dark haired beauty fell to the floor.
"Faith!" Buffy cried out, skewering everything that stood in her way. Soon she was lifting the unconscious slayer in her arms. "Angel, we have to go!"
The group fought their way back out of the building with some difficulty.
"Gunn get the car!" Angel called out tossing him the keys.
When Faith came to, she was aware of two things. First that Buffy was holding her in her lap and second, that Buffy was playing with her hair.
"I really like your hair with curls in it, Faithy." Buffy gently tugged a curl and watched it spring back; she smiled.
"Huh?" Faith thought maybe she was dreaming and tried to sit up, but a shooting pain traveled down her side. *Okay, not dreaming. Owwww!* Cringing, the brunette laid back down. "What happened?" She squinted up at Buffy.
The little slayer was lightly caressing Faith's ribs. *Mmmm… Faithy.* Stroking just underneath Faith's breast was making Buffy's mouth water. Slowly, she lifted her gaze. "What Faith?"
Suddenly talking didn't seem like a good idea so the younger slayer just closed her eyes. She could feel Buffy's fingertips delicately tracing little patterns on her skin. *Oh jesus! What's she doin'?!* Faith squeezed her eyes shut tight.
"Is this tickling you?" Buffy's voice was husky with emotion. She was just aching to nibble on Faith's full lips. Watching the beautiful mouth curl into a smile, heated Buffy all the way to her toes.
"A little." Faith was grinning.
"A little?" Buffy couldn't resist. She began tickling Faith in earnest. She suddenly realized that she had never heard Faith giggle before. "Just a little?! Hmmm?" The blonde teased her, tickling her more. "Say uncle or I won't stop."
"B, I'm injured!" Faith managed to gasp between giggles.
"You don't sound injured. Does she sound injured, Angel?"
Angel looked over the back seat. "Nope. She looks okay to me."
"Just okay?!" Faith feigned offense. "Geez! Give a girl a break. Some demon thing tried to filet me. So considering that, I'd say I probably look pretty damn good."
Buffy had stopped tickling her. "I'd have to agree." Faith peered up at her. "You look pretty damn good." Faith blushed crimson as she tried to wiggle out of Buffy's arms. The blonde merely tightened her hold. "Sit still, Faith."
"Okay, we're here. And all in one piece." Gunn glanced back at Faith. "Well sorta."
When Faith climbed out of the car, Buffy was right behind her, picking her up. "B, whatcha doin'?"
"What does it look like? I'm carrying you inside. You're injured." The little blonde lifted her up and headed straight up the stairs.
Faith had it in her mind to complain about being carried, but once she gazed up at Buffy's beautiful face she stayed quiet.
"What happened?!" Cordelia and Fred ran around from behind the front desk.
"Faith, had a little accident. Can you bring the first aid kit, Cordy?" The little slayer called out as she nudged open her bedroom door with her foot. "This should be good." Buffy gently set Faith on her bed and leaned down to attend to her wound.
"B, why are you being so nice?" Faith peered up at her curiously.
"Why do you think?" Buffy asked her lips twitching slightly.
Faith just shrugged.
"Because I love you, silly. Now lay back down." She gave Faith a kiss on her nose before going back out to get a towel.
"Fred, where are the towels?" Buffy stood in the hall waiting for Fred. *Oh geez! What did I just do?! What if she still hates me for what happened?!* The little blonde's self confidence started to fade.
"Here." Cordelia handed her some towels and walked past her into the bedroom. Buffy followed. "What are you smiling about?! Look at that gash on your side! Buffy, where were you when this happened?!"
"What?" The little slayer was dazed. All she could do was smile back at Faith. *She still loves me too!*
"I said, where were you when this demon was making mince meat out of Faith?! Shouldn't you be looking out for her?! You are the older slayer!" Cordelia huffed as she began bandaging Faith's side. Neither slayer spoke. Cordelia glanced at both of them. "You know what, I think I'll let Buffy help you with this." The seer tactfully got up to leave.
"Yeah. Thanks Cordy." Faith mumbled still grinning at Buffy. As soon as the miffed ex-cheerleader left the room, Faith asked. "You love me?"
"Yes. Of course I love you. I'm sorry for everything that happened. I didn't mean to hurt you." Buffy struggled to explain. "I couldn't stop. And I'm so sorry for that. Can you forgive me?" Tears welled up in Buffy's eyes.
"There's nothing to forgive. That wasn't you, B. I know that wasn't." Faith couldn't keep the goofy smile from her face. "Do you remember when we were in the prison too?"
"Yep! I remember everything now." Buffy perched on the edge of the bed next to the brunette. "Thanks for all those ice cream sandwiches and Popsicles."
Faith grinned. "You're welcome."
"So what do you say? Can we try this again?" The little blonde leaned close, gazing into Faith's dark eyes. She so wanted another chance.
"Uh… yeah. Totally." Faith grabbed her and kissed her. *Mmmm… Buffy Summers!… I'm kissing Buffy!… And she's totally kissing me back!… This is frickin' amazing!* Faith slowly broke the kiss. "So B, do you… um… do you forgive me for everything? Yunno, all that shit before prison?"
"Faith, I think we should try a clean slate for both of us. Everything is different now."
There was a soft knock on the door. Faith pulled the covers up under her chin. "Yeah?"
"Hey. Jus' thought I'd come say goodnight." Buffy peered in.
"Sure." She watched as the little blonde made her way into the room. "B, why don't you just sleep in here?"
"Are you sure you feel up to it? I don't have to." Buffy offered nervously.
"Feel up to what? Sleeping? Yeah, I can handle it. Besides we've shared a bed before." The brunette felt herself blush as she said it.
"Um… Yeah, okay." The little slayer climbed in the bed next to Faith. They both laid there for awhile. "Are you tired?"
"Not really. We can talk or somethin'."
A smile crept up on Buffy's face. "Do you feel like doing a 'or somethin'?"
Faith held her breath as Buffy leaned over and kissed her. Suddenly the blonde pulled back, her eyes wide.
"What's wrong, B?"
"Faith, are you… Are you naked?" Buffy could feel a flush spread over her body.
"Uh, yeah. That's how I sleep."
"You didn't in prison." The blonde mumbled, unsure of herself.
"No, but you did." Faith pulled Buffy on top of her and started kissing her again. It didn't take long before Buffy was pulling off her own pajamas.
"Oh god, Faith… Ahhhhhh!" The little slayer moaned as Faith flipped her onto her back and headed down her body, planting moist kisses along the way. She lifted her bottom and Faith pulled off her panties. Spreading her legs wide, Buffy held her breath waiting for her favorite part.
Faith descended slowly, building up the anticipation. It wasn't long before she heard Buffy's pleas. Grinning from ear to ear, the younger girl brought her mouth to the sweet wetness between Buffy's legs. *Mmmm… she taste as good as ever.* Faith closed her eyes and lost herself in the pleasure of the moment.
"OH FAAAIIITHH!…. YESSSS!" Buffy murmured tangling her hands in Faith's dark tresses. She peered down fascinated by the sight of the brunette between her thighs. *That looks soooo sexy!* Buffy smiled and fell back against the bed. Little tingles were passing through her like electrical currents. Her orgasm was building. "OMIGOD!!!" Buffy tensed up and held still as a rush of fluid left her body.
Faith eagerly lapped at the wetness, enjoying Buffy's moans and whimpers. She just loved the sounds Buffy made when she came. *Music to my ears.* The younger slayer rolled onto her back, panting. "Wow, B! That was frickin' awesome!"
"Uh-huh!" The little blonde breathed out still reeling from her intense orgasm. Lifting her head Buffy gazed down at Faith. "Your turn." She spoke with a smile, her voice chipper as she grabbed the younger girl and pulled her up. "Kneel over me." Buffy commanded.
"Uh… ya sure `bout that?" Faith hesitated.
"Yes! Come here!" The little blonde scooted down between Faith's thighs and grabbed her waist. "Lower Faith. I can't reach."
Slowly the brunette beauty lowered her pussy to Buffy's lips. "Holy fuck, B! Oh jesus!" Faith planted her hands on the wall, rocking gently. She could feel Buffy's fingertips lightly caressing her buttocks. *Mmmmm… Buffy Summers is sucking my clit. Fuck yeah!* Faith trembled and clung to the wall, shuddering as each orgasm rippled through her. "Buffy… oh Buffy!" Her thighs shook as she came again and again. Weakened she struggled to hold herself up. "B… gotta lay down."
Without breaking contact, Buffy flipped Faith onto her back and continued the assault with her tongue.
"What are we going to do about Lilah?" Wesley sat down across from the vampire. Angel peered up at him.
"Nothing until Buffy and Faith are back in Sunnydale."
"We're leaving today." Giles said, entering the room. "The farther away they are from Wolfram and Hart, the more confidant we'll all feel." He turned to look at Angel, Wesley, and Gunn. "I hope you don't mind if we let you attend to the rest."
"Not at all. I think we are all in agreement that you should get the slayers back home and out of harm's way." Wesley stated emphatically. "And may I suggest that you apply the same tattoo to Buffy as you have on Faith."
"Tattoos? Did ya hear that B? We're gonna get matching tattoos." Faith tugged Buffy into the office behind her.
"I'm game. Just put Faith's name somewhere on mine." Buffy giggled as Faith pulled her close for a kiss.
"Yeah, I want Buffy Summers written right here and you can put a big ole heart around it."
The two slayers left the room laughing.
"Good luck in Sunnydale." Angel smirked up at Giles.
