Nothing was going to stop her from doing this. There was no way that she was going to stay here and take this any longer. What was she some kind of glutton for punishment? Hell no. She reached under her bed and grabbed her ratty old duffle bag. Minutes later, she was going around her room, packing up the small amount of items that made up her belongings. Her mind was made her, she wasn't going to give in, and she wasn't going to be persuaded otherwise. She definitely didn't stop when the door to her motel room opened and a blonde walked through the door.
Buffy was puzzled as to why her girlfriend was packing her bag. She didn't remember any mentions of a trip to her.
"What are you doing?"
Faith didn't turn toward her or acknowledge her with her eyes, she just answered distractedly.
"What's it look like I'm doing B? I'm packin' my shit."
She frowned and approached the busy brunette.
"Um..why?"
Faith finally stopped packing and sat down heavily on the bed, running her fingers through her hair in deference to her waning emotions. She felt the give in the bed, as Buffy sat down next to her. Fingers gently started rubbing her arms and she swallowed hard, trying to resist the urge to push them away. It was for nothing, because she moved away, putting distance between them. Where once that touch had been comforting, it was now hurtful to her. Buffy frowned and tried to touch Faith again, but was denied. Now, she was worried.
"What's going on Faith?"
The brunette turned toward Buffy and looked at her with resigned and defeated brown eyes.
"I can't.. I can't do this anymore B."
"Do what? Talk to me," she pleaded worriedly. She had every cause to worry. Her life was about to change in a major way.
"This. I can't do this anymore. Being your second choice. I can't deal with just having half of your heart."
Her eyes suddenly seemed darker, and her resentment for the blonde could be physically felt. Buffy met the stare with mock confusion.
"I don't understand. What makes you think that? Faith, you have my heart. All of it. You, and only you. I love you."
It took all of Faith's will to exercise restraint from hurting the blonde.
"That's a fuckin' lie! What, do you think I'm a complete fuckin' idiot?! You should know me better than that!"
She stood up, towering over the seated blonde. Her hands were balled into tight fists, that quivered slightly as she clenched them. Buffy stood up as well, angry that Faith would doubt the way she felt for her.
"I've been with you, and I am with you! I do love you damn it! Why can't you accept that?!"
Faith's face became blank. She reached forward and grabbed the blonde roughly by the hips and pulled her painfully close. Her head bent and she took in the scent of her girlfriend. What she was really doing was searching, up and down her neck. There was the extreme scent of soap, not normal, the overwhelming perfume of body spray, too much. All of it was expertly applied to keep her from getting suspicious. She felt hands trying to push her away, but she wasn't about to give in. She continued to hold the blonde close, almost crushing their bodies together. Then... Just a little to her pulse point. A spot. The spot that she had missed, just like always. Just like now. She breathed it in deep, her eyes open wide and unseeing as she took in the vampire's scent on her woman. She lifted her head and nipped the blonde's ear.
"You missed a spot B," she growled.
She pushed the blonde away from her, not even caring that Buffy had fell to the floor, her eyes staring up at her guiltily. Buffy felt like crying. She had been caught, and she knew she was going to lose the brunette, but that didn't or wasn't going to stop her from begging.
"It wasn't like that Faith. We didn't do anything."
The brunette had threw in the last of her belonging, a pair of black leather pants. Pants that Buffy had loved to see her in.
"More like you can't do anything, but...there's ways around that little clause. Besides..." she trailed off and looked at the guilty party on the floor.
"...the fact that you wanted it makes it that much worse."
She grabbed her leather jacket from a nearby chair and shrugged it on, reaching and grabbing her packed duffel when she was finished.
"I love you Faith. Please, don't leave."
She really did love the brunette, with a major part of her heart, but as much as she did, she couldn't and wasn't able to give her Sister Slayer all of it, at least not all of that part.
"You probably do B, and I love you too. Always...but I don't want to have to share my part of you. Not with him, and not with anybody. I deserve better than that."
As Faith turned her back and walked towards the door, Buffy scrambled to her feet, intending on stopping the brunette, but before she could even move Faith had turned around and was walking back towards her.
The blonde opened her mouth to speak, and just as suddenly she felt Faith's lips on hers. It was a kiss goodbye. Tears fell from her eyes. She wrapped her arms around the brunette and pulled her close trying to physically make her stay, her kiss getting more passionate and feverish with emotion but desperate in emotion. Faith pulled away, her face almost blank but for the sadness read in her brown eyes. She ducked her head and kissed Buffy on the neck, just beside the tainted skin. Another spot. Her spot. Hers. Her own little revenge.
"Goodbye Buffy."
She turned on her heel and just as quickly left the room. Leaving a bunch of painful memories and a broken hearted blonde.
