Salvation

Disclaimer: I don’t own Faith or Buffy but I could think of a few things I
would do if I did. *she shakes her head and clears her thoughts* Nope, Joss
is the lucky one. I also don’t own the song; it's called “Angels or Devils”
by Dishwalla. One kick ass song, let me tell you.
Author’s Notes: This one is a little confusing, I know. It didn’t even come
up clear in my head. I was up all last night playing the Sims Online (‘cause
I’m a huge geek) and I woke up early this morning with a not so clear head
and the urge to get on my computer to write a fanfic. So sorry for this
being a piece of crap but feedback is welcome anyhow. I’ve also come to the
conclusion that I don’t know how to write a fic without putting a song into
it. I always start off writing a normal one but then I just *have* to put a
song in it. Next one (when I am not playing Sims, and not staring at my text
book pretending to study) I promise I will not incorporate a song into it.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I need to find Faith somehow, right?”
“You think it’s possible?”
“I don’t know. Last time I shared a dream with Faith she was in a coma.”
“What’s the plan?”
“The spell that is cast creates a welcoming field to either of the slayers in their dreams. When both are asleep either Buffy or Faith will be lured into the other slayers dream realm. It will only be temporary, in case anything should happen. You only have limited time Buffy.”
“Oh no, not you. I don’t need another thing to be worried about.”
Faith gave a huge sigh as she walked into sight, “Great, like I’d want to spend my night with you now that I’m free.”
“What do you mean when you’re free?”
“I got let out last month. Whose dream is this? Mine or yours?”
“Mine obviously. I haven’t gotten much sleep lately. My mind has to find some sort of way to punish me.”
They were sitting on a grave stone opposite from another in one of Sunnydale’s many cemeteries while both of them looked around curiously. Faith got up and started to head to one of the crypts.
“Where are you going? I’m not done talking to you yet.” She needed a solution. If she didn’t do something quick it could mean the end to everything.
Faith said nothing in return so Buffy got up and stormed after her. “Faith, I need to talk to you.” She said grabbing her arm and turned Faith around to face her. She ignored the tingling sensation that she got when she touched Faith. This was the time for business. She had to fix everything so she could get Faith on her side. What she didn’t realize was that Faith already was on their side. She was always on their side, even if the boundaries did get blurry in the past.
“Chill, B, we have all night.” But they didn’t. Faith opened the crypt and walked inside. Instead of walking into crypt both slayers entered a huge movie theater.
“I don’t recognize this place,” they both sat in the middle of the deserted movie theater and stared up at the screen.
Faith smiled widely, “of course you don’t, this theater is in Boston. You see those two seats back there? That’s were Leslie Ann gave me my first kiss.” Nostalgia over coming her, she looked at the two seats in the back and sighed.
“Your first kiss was from a girl?” Faith nodded her head, “I didn’t know you - ”
“What did you want to talk to me about, B?” Faith said, breaking Buffy off and turning her attention to the floor.
Buffy opened her mouth to respond but the lights dimmed and the movie started to play.
The opening of notes of the movie filled the slayers ears and caught their attention.
“Oh yeah! Star Wars! I love this movie,” Faith exclaimed as the yellow letters escalated up into their view and began to roll. But it only said one word.
Salvation.
The movie had just given Buffy her solution. Plain and simple, yet so clear. It needn’t any other words. Just “salvation.” That was all it took for Buffy to make her decision and she knew it was the right one to make.
“What the fuck was that? What do you mean ‘salvation’?” Faith screamed at the movie screen. The world around them started to blur and they were eighteen again. “Well deja fucking vu. I know this place.” Faith smiled.
“Homecoming. 1998. Damn. That was a long time ago.” Buffy smiled at Faith. “We never got to dance that night. You were the one who supposedly took me right?” She offered Faith her hand. Faith stared at it dumbfounded. The soft music filled their ears.
[This is the last time That I'm ever gonna come here tonight This is the last time, I will fall Into a place that fails us all, inside]
“This is too fucking weird for me,” she hesitated but took Buffy’s hand anyway. Buffy led both of them to the dance floor and they took each other into each other’s arms as if nothing happened to them in the past. They were eighteen again. They were just feeling what they knew and remembered at that young age and it lightened their hearts. Nothing from the past and present didn’t matter. They were eighteen again and had nothing to blemish their past, their present, and their future. At that present time, all they needed was each other and the fact that they were eighteen all over again.
[I can see the pain in you I can see the love in you But fighting all the demons will take time It will take time]
“B?” Faith asked confused as they started to sway to the music. Buffy just shushed her.
“Listen Faith,” Buffy started to whisper into her ear. Faith closed her eyes at the sensation of Buffy’s warm breath in such a sensitive spot. There was really no need to whisper. They were the only ones on the dance floor. All the thoughts of them being eighteen again started to fade away. She had to remember that she was looking for a solution. She couldn’t get caught up in the moment. If she did that, she would fail the world. Worst of all, she would fail both herself and Faith. They were running out of time. “There’s this thing. It’s after me. It’s after you too. I need you.”
Salvation. It echoed her mind, the words flashing in her brain.
[The angels they burn inside for us Are we ever Are we ever gonna learn to fly The devils they burn inside of us Are we ever gonna come back down Come around I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold]
“What are you talking about? What thing?” She stared into Buffy’s eyes her heart thumping madly in her chest. She didn’t know how, maybe because of the change of scenery in the dream that made it appear like she was eighteen again, but she seriously felt eighteen again. All the memories, it brought butterflies to her stomach remembering how when she was younger she used to get so nervous when she was around Buffy. It was all just God damned memories. She was bound to wake up and any given second.
[This is the last time That I'm ever gonna give in tonight Are there angels or devils crawling here? I just want to know what blurs and what is clear, to see]
Buffy stared back into Faith’s eyes. Salvation. She knew where to find it.
[Still I can see the pain in you And I can see the love in you And fighting all the demons will take time It will take time]
Buffy closed her eyes and inched closer to Faith. A little closer, their lips would be touching.
“What are you doing B? What the hell is going on?”
“Saving you. Saving me. Saving the world. We need you now. I need you now.”
And with that, she kissed her.
[The angels they burn inside for us Are we ever Are we ever gonna learn to fly The devils they burn inside of us Are we ever gonna come back down Come around I'm always gonna worry about the things that could break us]
Everything had a second meaning but to them, it only had one meaning. And that was all that mattered. Faith would go to Buffy now. They would defeat this thing. They would over come it all. Together, they could conquer anything. Together, they would conquer everything.
[If I was to give in, give it up And then Take a breath, make it deep 'Cause it might be the last one you get Be the last one That could make us cold You know that they could make us cold I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold]
They both woke up the next morning with a smile on their faces. Solution and salvation granted. There was no time to waste.
