PROLOGUE: One Year Ago
Buffy slammed the door shut, leaving her mother alone.
Joyce sighed, then grabbed her jacket and hurried off after her, keeping a distance away from her.
Buffy entered the library and pulled the sword Kendra gave her out. The sword blessed by Medival knights, and ran into Principal Snyder.
Joyce watched in the shadows, seething with rage as she heard Snyder expelling her daughter. She would have words with the son of a bitch when this was all over.
Joyce hid in a room, just when Buffy walked out, never noticing anything out of the ordinary. Joyce quickly and quietly followed her to the mansion.
She could see Buffy running into Xander. Joyce sensed that Xander was holding something back, but that wasn't her concern. Buffy was her only concern.
When she followed the kids to the mansion, she hid and just watched in shock and surprise as Buffy fought these vampires. There was so much about Buffy she never knew.
She ignored the sight of Xander helping Giles out of the mansion. She was instead focusing on the battle between Buffy and Angelus.
Drusilla punched Spike out, when suddenly she sensed something amiss. Someone was here in the mansion. Someone she would feed on.
Joyce was so intent on watching the fight that she never heard Drusilla approach. Never knew she was there until she felt a hand grabbing her neck.
Buffy kept fighting when she heard a scream. Both she and Angelus turned out. Angelus grinned evilly while Buffy's eyes widen in horror at the sight of Drusilla holding her mother.
"Looks like she got your poor old mummy, huh, Buffy?" Angelus laughed evilly.
Buffy made no move to acknowledge what Angelus said. She swallowed as she saw Drusilla's face transform into its vampire features.
"NO!" Buffy screamed as Dru opened her mouth, preparing to sink her fangs into Joyce's neck.
She began to sprint towards the couple, intent on getting Drusilla off her mother when she was hit by the butt of Angelus' sword.
She was just dazed, but she was awake enough to watch helpless as Drusilla sucked Joyce's blood in.
When she was done, Dru let the body of her dead mother fall to the floor.
She licked her lips, and was about to walk over to Buffy when she got hit behind by Spike. She went unconscious. Spike picked Dru up, and stopped by Joyce's body.
He turned to look at Buffy with an evil grin, "Maybe Dru would like to have your mum as a pet, eh, Slayer?"
He grabbed Joyce's body and ran off, leaving Buffy alone with Angelus, who was enjoying it more and more. He didn't even care that Spike betrayed him and took Dru with him.
"So your friends are gone, your mother is dead, Buffy," he laughed viciously at this pathetic excuse of a Slayer.
He pulled his sword arm, preparing to drive it through Buffy's back, "So what's left for you?"
Buffy whirled and deflected the sword with her own, "Me," she hissed. Angelus saw the look on her face. It was one of rage and hatred, but it was also one deprived by emotion. Her eyes looked....empty.
"You bastard," Buffy threw Angelus off, dropped the sword, and grabbed a metal railing.
Angelus managed to get in a lucky shot, cutting her lips deep before Buffy drove the railing through his arm, forcing him to drop the sword.
She wanted to kill him, but that wasn't enough now. Now all she wants is to hurt the bastard.
Something was happening to Angelus as his soul reentered his body. He was Angel again.
"Buf-" He began speaking her name, before Buffy kicked him so hard that it nearly took his head off.
Buffy knew this wasn't Angelus anymore. This was Angel. But she didn't care. All he was to her was a dead vampire, soul or no soul.
Buffy kept beating on her former lover, impaling him with the metal railing.
She saw the portal opening and she looked at Angel one last time, and spoke in a cold, emotionless tone, "Buffy is dead, Angel. I'm Ebony now."
With that, she picked the sword up and gutted him squarely in the stomach.
Then she kicked Angel into the portal.
She watched as the portal closing, seeing the man she loved. The man she betrayed, but never cared.
Buffy, now Ebony, returned to the house where she once lived with her mother. She looked around, seeing a batch of cigarettes.
Picking the cigarettes up, Ebony walked into her room, still cutting her emotions off. She refused to face her emotions, her pain.
She turned to look into the mirror. Ebony reached up and touched her lips, specifically, where Angelus cut her. The bleeding stopped, but it doesn't look like it's healing.
Good. The scar would remain a reminder of what she once had. Of what she can never come back to.
She looked around her wardrobe, finding something that isn't Buffy. Some clothes that is Ebony.
She put on baggy pants, a khaki tank top, and grabbed the leather duster coat, and put it on.
She grabbed a bag and picked some clothes, some stuff.
She looked around, then pulled the batch of cigarettes she had, and lit one on her lips.
She left the house, never looking back.
She stopped at Sunnydale High, and watched as her former friends, her former watcher talking. She could hear with her Slayer Hearing that Buffy was the subject and that they haven't seen her.
Her face remained impassive, as she took one last look at Buffy's friends. Ebony began walking towards the bus station.
Ebony looked out the window, smoking a cigarette. She had a new purpose now. She would scour all the globe looking for Spike, Drusilla, the bitch who bit her mother, and the evil demon who would now take Joyce's place. She knew they wouldn't be in Sunnydale, so she left, and the hunt would start.
She looked at her reflection on the window of the bus, and saw in its eyes....a spark of Buffy.
She shook it off. That wasn't who she is anymore. That was who she would never be again.
Now and forevermore, she was Ebony, the Vampire Slayer.
Ebony got off the bus, lighting another cigarette. The lead she got on Spike, and Dru, as well as a rumor that a blond woman, a third vampire, joined them.
She looked around, then seeing a motel, she walked towards it. After getting a key, Ebony walked upstairs, lost in her thoughts. She nearly bumped into someone. She looked up to see a raven-haired girl in front of her.
"Watch where you're going," Ebony snapped at her. The girl rolled her eyes, "Whatever." She kept walking. Ebony watched her leaving, then shook it off. She has better things to do. Like hunting.
Ebony opened the room, and dropped her duffel bag, and left with her weapon bag.
As she walked out of the hotel, she studied the map of Oakland. A couple of cemeteries to check out. Maybe she might get lucky and find some info on her prey.
She noticed the girl she ran into at the hotel entering the cemetery. Ebony followed her. She was about to call out to the girl, when suddenly a vampire jumped on her. Ebony was surprised, when the girl whirled, and kicked the vampire off her. She watched on, still shell shocked, as the unknown girl punched him in the nose, then staked him.
Ebony finally came out of it, and stalked toward this girl, and spat, "Who the hell are you?"
The girl looked at Ebony and shrugged, "I'm Faith," she replied, "The Vampire Slayer."
Ebony stood there, not saying anything, then she heard a vampire, and bared her teeth in a feral snarl.
Before Faith could take a step towards the vampire, Ebony jumped up onto the vampire and, with all her rage, beat on the vampire, getting his blood on her hands, imagining that this vampire was Spike or Dru… or, God help her, her mother.
Tears, after a year of holding everything in, finally made their ways down Ebony's cheeks as she continued beating on the vampire.
Faith stood there, shocked at her actions, then snapped out of it, and pulled Ebony out and staked the vampire she was beating on.
Ebony pulled free of Faith, and glared at her, "I didn't need your help."
Faith shrugged, "No, ya don't, but you can't spend all night beating on a vamp."
She continued looking at the blond Slayer, "You're Buffy, right?"
Ebony, who had looked at where the vampire was, whipped her head at Faith, and shot her arm, grabbing Faith's arm, and slammed her hard against a wall, twisting her arm.
"Shit!" Faith gasped in surprise. She growled, whispering in Faith's ear, "Don't. Ever. Call. Me. That. Again."
Faith nodded not much to do in that position. "What should I call you then?"
"Ebony," she hissed, letting go of Faith's arm, "And don't forget it."
Faith rubbed her arm, making sure it's still attached, "Shit, what the fuck is your problem?"
Ebony glared at the other Slayer, then stalked out of the cemetery. Faith ran after her.
"Hey, I was making conversation, okay?" Faith called after her, trying to keep up with her.
"Then stop doing it, and get out of here. I don't have time for you." Ebony replied in an emotionless tone, but the tone also told Faith not to fuck with her.
Faith held her hands up, "Hey, not the enemy here, B—" She started to call her by her former name, but the death stare she received in return told her not to even finish it, "Ebony."
Ebony looked at Faith for a few long moments, then turned to walk away, leaving the other Slayer.
Faith watched her leave, but she saw her stop a few steps away, and Ebony turned her head back to look at her, "What are you waiting for? We got a job to do." She started walking away.
Faith smiled a little and followed after her.
Faith was feeling a bit uncomfortable. Buffy, who called herself Ebony, was silent. All the way to the cemeteries and through the fights against vampires, some of them with more in mind than feeding, which pretty much pissed both her, and, she presumed, her new, bitchy friend, Ebony barely even made word one.
"Okay, B," Faith decided to call her just her initial, just to piss her off. This uncaring, emotionless shit didn't seem to work for this girl, "where to next?"
Ebony glared at her, annoyed. At least she didn't call her by her full name, she mused. "Well, F, I think that's about it. I guess we could go back to the motel, where I presume you're staying at, too, and grab some sleep."
Faith nodded, "Five by five with me, B. I'm wicked tired, and…" she tested her shoulder, and winced as she felt the crack, "I think my shoulder's dislocated."
Not saying a word, Ebony walked over to Faith and grabbed her arm, and snapped it, prompting a scream from Faith.
Ebony walked away, leaving her sister Slayer to rub her shoulder. She followed, murmuring, "Coulda warned me, B."
When they arrived at the motel, Ebony took off her jacket, and Faith saw a few tattoos on her arms and on the exposed areas of her back. At least parts of tattoos she could see.
On her right shoulder was a green dragon with some red scales shooting fire. On both side and the backs of her neck are cross tattoos, to prevent vamps from biting her, Faith guessed. On her left upper arm rests a thorny vine tattoo. On her left shoulder, is a flaming sword with the word "hellfire" under it.
On her back is a simple mom heart tattoo, the kind you see on the arms of overweight truckers. But Ebony's mom tattoo is different because a wooden stake impaled the heart. Faith wondered what that tattoo was about.
Ebony turned to face Faith, pointing to her door; "This is my room, Leather."
Faith smirked. So she wasn't the only one who had a thing for names. "What a coiny-dinky, B, coz mine is right next to yours." Faith pointed to the room next to it.
Ebony nodded, and went into her room, without so much a good night to Faith. She shrugged, and walked to her room.
Later, Faith woke up, thinking that she had woken up from her nightmares, until she heard Ebony's voice with her Slayer hearing. She was having nightmares, too. Faith silently thanked the blonde Slayer for waking her and rushed into her room.
Faith bursted into Ebony's room, seeing the other Slayer tossing and turning violently, screaming, "No, Mom! Please, don't! Please don't do this!"
Faith rushed to her side, shaking Ebony awoke, and then promptly got smacked in the face, which sent her flying into the wall.
Ebony was only half-awake when she hit Faith. When her head cleared, she saw Faith lying against the wall, rubbing her jaw.
"Shit, B," Faith continued rubbing her jaw, "I do a good deed, and wake you up and this is what I get?"
Ebony said nothing, glaring at her for a few moments, then finally spoke, "What the fuck are you doing in here, Faith? I sure as shit don't need someone to hold my hand."
"Well," Faith struggled to get up, "I was sleeping very soundly," she replied, lying, "when suddenly I was rudely woke up by someone screaming in this room, so I thought I could see where the screaming was coming from, and gasp! There you were the source of the screaming. So I thought to get some sleep, I could get you to stop screaming."
Ebony didn't reply for a moment, then, "Well, if it's any consolation, Faith, thanks, but I didn't need your help waking up, so you can go back to your room."
Faith looked at Ebony for a long moment, then nodded, and walked to the door, then paused to look at the older Slayer, "I ain't no talker, B, but if ya wanna talk, I'm the next room. And, Ebony," Faith spoke her Goth name, serious, "Ya gotta remember, I'm on your side."
Ebony looked at Faith, "That it?" and Faith nodded. Ebony nodded, as well, "Well, if that's it, you can go now, and thanks. But I can handle it."
Faith nodded, and began to open the door, when she stopped at Ebony's voice, "Faith?"
She turned to look at Ebony, "Yeah?"
Ebony seemed to struggle with herself, and instead replied, "… Nothing."
Faith was a bit surprised coz that was what Faith would say, too, in Ebony's position. Faith nodded and left the room.
Faith closed the door behind her, and leaned against it. She made a decision; for better or worse, she was gonna stick with this girl who called herself Ebony, and if it was the last thing she did, she was gonna bring the girl, the Slayer she heard so much about. She was gonna bring Buffy back. She had heard from those Watcher idiots that Buffy was a legend, a rebel to them. Whatever happened had made her Ebony, and she didn't like it. Faith knew what it was like to be like that. To have whatever light in your life snuffed out, and you're trapped in a world of darkness. Maybe she was being selfish, but if she could bring Buffy back, she might see some light again.
She went back to her own room, thinking.
CHAPTER 3: Two Slayers on the Road
Ebony woke up, groaning, and trying to clear her mind. She noticed the dent in the wall, and frowned, then she groaned again, remembering what happened the night before.
Ebony collapsed back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. She couldn't really be mad at Faith; she was just trying to help Ebony. Looking at Faith, she could tell that Faith understood what it was like for Ebony. Back then, Buffy could probably avoid Faith, but she wasn't that girl anymore.
She got dressed once more, and stopped to look into the mirror. She stared at her reflection, then brought her hand up, and ran her fingers across the scar on her lips where Angelus cut her.
She remembered the reason why she acted like a complete bitch to Faith, and closed her eyes to prevent her tears from falling out.
She's been having nightmares. Ebony saw Drusilla biting her mother, while Angelus and Spike held Ebony back so she would do nothing but watch.
Then she saw her mother rising from the floor, then she saw her approaching Dru, and she felt sick to her stomach as she watched Joyce kissing Dru, and that sick feeling turned to horror as she watched her face transform into its vampire form.
She saw the merciless, malicious smile forming on Joyce's lips as she approached, and both her captors pulled her up, not heeding to her cries of protest and mercy and struggle.
She cried as she felt Joyce's fangs sink into her daughter's neck.
That was when Faith woke her up.
Ebony snapped back to reality. She sighed, feeling real hopeless. Over the past year, she's tracked the vamps that took her mother from her. Her first stop after Sunnydale was LA where she had her first real battle with the…thing that had been her mother. Spike and Dru were nowhere to be seen, but she knew they were close by.
She remembered Joyce's verbal abuses, about how disgusted she was at how her daughter turned out to be, about how she should have smothered Buffy when she was born.
But she enjoyed seeing how her death had brought her daughter to this; cold, and cut off from all her emotions. Ebony knew that kind of attitude could get you killed.
The horrific part of her first battle was watching Joyce tore her ex-husband, and Buffy's father—apart. She could only stand paralyzed as Joyce sucked every drop of blood from her headless and limbless body.
She didn't even move to defend herself when Joyce approached her with that malicious smile she saw every night in her dreams.
"Oh, no, Buffy," she laughed viciously, whispering in Ebony's ear, while nibbling on her earlobe, "We're not done just yet."
"Your dear father was just the beginning," she continued, "You see, I've come to learn to enjoy this little game, and I've decided that I shouldn't kill you just yet. Oh, your time will come, I promise, but not just yet."
At that moment, Ebony knew her mother was really dead. She knew that the light in her dark tunnel that she always saw as her salvation went out. In her place was this animalistic, sadistic monster, which delighted in ripping everything that was Buffy piece by piece, leaving only Ebony.
She could only stand, not moving as she watched her mother leaving. As Joyce paused at the door, she saw her mother blowing a kiss at her then she left.
Then the girl that once was Elizabeth "Buffy" Anne Summers fell to her knees, her hands covering her sobbing face. Then, all of a sudden she let out a howl of rage, sorrow, and pain all in one for the entire world to hear.
She remained like that until she heard sirens approaching. Somewhere in her mind, Ebony knew that she couldn't do anything for her father, couldn't avenge both her parents if she was caught.
Acting purely on survival instinct, Ebony quickly escaped just as the police burst into the building.
She anonymously made sure that her father's funeral was paid for. Hank Summers' family and friends attended most of them Ebony knew as a child. But Ebony stood under a tree, watching the funeral from a distance.
As the funeral ended, she silently turned and walked away.
Ebony once more returned to reality. She shook her head. She had to wake Faith up, so they can get something to eat, then maybe Ebony can get lucky and get info on Joyce, her vampy bitch mommy, and their lapdog, Spike.
She walked into Faith's room, and stopped short as she saw Faith lying peacefully in bed. She could see that her sleep was a fitful one, but it was peaceful, nonetheless.
Ebony sat onto the edge of Faith's bed and gently shook her sister Slayer awake. Faith groaned, not liking to be awakened.
Faith looked at Ebony, still half-asleep, "What time is it?"
Ebony glanced at the clock, "8:30 AM. You want to get bre—" but she stopped, watching Faith grabbing another pillow and covered her head in it, she could hear Faith murmuring, "The mornings are meant to sleep in, B."
Ebony had to smile, and pulled the pillow off of Faith, "Aw, c'mon, F, you don't want to sleep in. It looks like it's a beaut—" she stopped short, surprised at herself. She was acting like she was still Buffy! Ebony frowned, what was it about Faith that could bring the part of her that was still Buffy out?
She shook it off, "C'mon, Faith." She struggled to get Faith out of bed, "Up. We got work to do."
Faith mumbled, walking slowly towards the bathroom, "Yes, sir, General B."
Ebony smiled and looked at Faith. The pout on Faith's lips looked cute.
"I'll be outside. Don't stall, or I'll come in and give you a spanking," Ebony walked out, smirking.
Faith called out her reply; "We'll see who gets that spanking, B."
Ebony's mind was like a whirlwind of emotions. She had to lean against Faith's door and breathe deeply. What the hell was that about? Why was she acting like she did when she was in Buffy mode?
Something about Faith kept bringing that part out of her.
Faith strolled out of her room, interrupting Ebony's thoughts, with a cat-ate-canary grin on her face, "Ready t'go, B. Where to?"
Ebony could only stare at Faith. She was wearing a white tank top that showed her muscles off, and she could see that, like Ebony, Faith had a tattoo, too, except it was a barbwire tattoo. She was also wearing leather pants that looked too tight. Ebony had to wonder how Faith was able to breathe in those.
"I…. Uh…I…" she cursed herself. Since when did Rosenberg give her lessons in babbling?
Faith could only smirk, "Like what you're seeing, B?"
Ebony shook it off, and quickly walked off, with Faith following closely by.
That night, Ebony and Faith broke through the door, to find a vampire's nest. Ebony heard from a vampire that someone had the information she wanted before she staked him.
She scanned the room, "Which of you is Johnny?" she began, "Because we can do this the easy way, or the hurting way, and, trust me, you don't want the hurting way."
One of the vamps rose from his seat, "I'm Johnny. What's it to you?"
"You know where the Trinity is, and I want you to tell me."
Johnny sneered at her, "What if I don't?"
Ebony smiled a malicious, merciless smile. The same smile, she was sure, Joyce had.
"Then we do this the hurting way."
All at once, the Chosen Two, as Faith was fond of calling themselves, were like whirlwinds of action, staking vampires left and right, making sure that their "deaths" were quick and painful.
Until all that was left was Johnny.
Ebony approached him, her malicious smile still on her face, "Want to try again, Johnny?"
Johnny cowered before this powerful girl, "They said they were headin' to Boston and meet up with someone named…Kack…kik…."
Before Ebony, Faith paled, "Kakistos?"
"That's it!" Johnny exclaimed.
Ebony noticed the fear in Faith's voice, "You know this Kakistos guy?"
Ebony could see Faith struggle with herself, before replying, "He's a vampire. He killed my Watcher. There's no words for what he did to her."
Ebony nodded, sympathizing with Faith. She knew what Faith meant. She still remembered Merrick, her first Watcher.
She turned to Johnny, "Thanks." And with that, Johnny's eyes widened, before he turned to dust as Ebony staked him.
She walked over to Faith, "Don't worry. We'll take care of him. I promise."
"You…you don't understand what it was like…" Faith began, but Ebony cut her off.
"I do. Trust me. I went through the same thing shortly after I was Called. His name was Merrick. He killed himself to prevent this vamp named Lothos from finding who I was."
Faith could only nod, and then she collapsed into Ebony's arms, crying.
They slided down the wall together, Ebony sharing in Faith's pain.
She sighed. With everyone else, she was Ebony, but with Faith….
"Faith?" she looked at her partner.
Faith looked up at her. "Do me a favor?"
Faith nodded, "Call me Buffy."
And Faith smiled, "Okay…Buffy."
Buffy smiled too, and whispered in Faith's ear, "Just not in public, okay? I got a rep to maintain, and I don't want anyone to think that I was a big softie."
Faith chuckled through her tears, "Deal."
Buffy, now in Ebony mode, helped Faith up.
"Come on, we've got a long way to go."
Later, on the bus heading for Boston… and, Ebony hoped the end of her yearlong nightmare.
"B?" Faith spoke, snapping Ebony out of her thoughts.
"Hmm?"
"Who's this trinity of vamps?" Faith asked, "I mean, I know it ain't my business, but I think you at least owe me that."
Ebony hesitated, unsure if she should tell her partner.
She sighed. Faith was right. Ebony did owe her that much, at least.
She took a few deep breaths before beginning; "It all started a year ago…"
CHAPTER 4: A Cheersful Day in Boston
Faith and Ebony got off the bus. Along the way, they've fought vampires and demons. Even stopped a couple of apocalypses. And they've done all that without the help of a Watcher. Faith was still in awe of this girl at her side. When her watcher talked about Buffy, the girl Ebony was, she spoke about her as if she was a legend. Faith didn't know how true that was till she heard the story from Ebony.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Ebony spoke, snapping her partner out of her train of thought.
Faith shook her head, clearing her thoughts a bit. "Sorry, B. Just thinking that you're amazing."
Faith could see Ebony trying to hide her blush, smiling. To everyone else, she was Ebony, but to Faith, she was Buffy, or B, as Faith had gotten used to calling her.
"Thought I told you to not to say things like that when we're in public?" Ebony put on her pissed-off face, but Faith knew that she wasn't really mad at her.
"What can I say, B?" Faith smirked at her, "I wanna share you with the world."
Ebony smirked back, "I'm sure you do, F, but maybe we should look for a place to stay and maybe we can check where Kakistos' hangout places are."
Faith tensed at the mention of Kakistos. Whenever Ebony mentioned Kakistos, she just tensed, terrified, but Ebony always reassured her, like she was doing right now.
"Hey, don't worry, Faith. You're not alone. You got me. We're the Chosen Two. We'll beat him together."
Faith nodded slowly, remembering the story her partner told her, "Yeah," she reached out and grasped Ebony's hand, "Just like we're gonna beat that freak that took your mom's place, and her bitch and bastard dog. Together."
Ebony said nothing. Just stared at her, and what happened next completely surprised Faith. Ebony leaned in and kissed Faith on the lips.
Faith, still surprised, could do nothing but respond to the kiss. For a long few minutes, the Chosen Two stayed like this. Then Ebony pulled away, breathing hard. Faith could see that she was as surprised at what happened.
"I…uh… I…" Ebony turned quickly and walked away, mumbling, "Come on, Faith."
Faith stood there, unmoving for a few moments, still shocked at Ebony's actions, then a shit-eating grin came to her lips, and ran off after Ebony.
Ebony's mind wasn't a whirlwind of emotions right now—it was a tornado of emotions. Hell, it was a twister.
Ebony couldn't bring herself to look at Faith, who, Ebony knew was all-out grinning at her. Ever since she killed Angel, she hadn't been with anyone, boy or girl. But those few last months with her had been so good, and she had been kind of soft towards Faith.
But lately, she's begun to have feelings that were more and more than just friends were. And the worst thing—Ebony didn't know what to do about it.
There was uncomfortable silence between them, and it was killing Faith.
When they were alone, Faith decided that they had to talk about it. "Buffy—" she began.
"I know what you're going to say, Faith," Ebony cut her off, "I don't know why I did that, either."
Ebony reached out and grabbed her raven-haired partner's hand, "But it felt right for me."
Faith smiled, "For me, too, B."
Faith started to lean in for another kiss, but a finger on her lips stopped her, "I need to sort this out for myself, Faith. Can you give me time to do that?"
Faith nodded, "I'll wait, B. Take your time."
Ebony smiled, "Even if I don't feel for you in THAT way, Faith, I'm still not going anywhere. I need you in my life, Faith, and I know you need me, too."
Faith nodded, smiling.
They both hugged, and Ebony pulled away, just in time to see an evil glint in Faith's eyes, and she knew her long enough to know that she got an idea.
Faith grinned, "Wanna see the hot spots in Boston, B?"
Ebony smiled back. In the last few months, while traveling all over the country, Ebony had time to get to know her partner. And she could see that Faith only got two things on her mind—sex and dancing 24/7.
Ebony had been the way she was. She wasn't everything Buffy was. But Faith showed her another dark side she could have. A wild side of her and Ebony had to admit she liked it.
Her smile turned into a full-fledged grin, "Okay, F. Lead the way."
Later, at Cheers, the Chosen Two were drinking. Ebony was amazing at how Faith got the fake Ids for the drinks. Sure, this was for family, but Ebony was surprised as Faith ordered two drinks from Carla, the waitress. She took a liking to Carla, and everyone else in Cheers. She was surprised at how Sam Malone, Rebecca Howe, and everyone else treated Faith like she was an equal.
Faith turned to Ebony, "So how do you like this place, B?" Ebony had to smile. Just when she thought she knew Faith, the raven-haired Slayer surprised her.
"It's great, Faith." Ebony looked around the bar, "though I'm kinda uncomfortable with the looks some of the guys are giving us."
Faith shrugged, "We're both hotties, B, and that scar on your lips is pretty sexy on you. And I should know." She smiled seductively.
Ebony could feel her cheeks burning. Every goddamn time. Not even Angel could make her feel the way she does. And damned if she didn't love every minute of it.
Ebony glanced at the clock, and looked out the window…and struggled to see what little of the sky, since, after all, Cheers was underground.
But her Slayer sight served her just fine. "Sunset, Faith. Drink up, and we go."
Faith nodded, grinning, and downed the last contents of her drink, and she walked to the bar. She paid Sam, "Thanks for the drinks, Sam." Faith grinned, "It was good to see you again."
Sam nodded, smiling, "You too, Faith. Stay out of trouble, all right?"
Ebony nodded, "We will, Sam. It was nice to meet you."
And the Chosen Two walked to the door, only to stop, seeing an overweight man walking in, saying, "Afternoon, everyone."
Everyone in the bar, even Faith, shouted, "NORM!"
Ebony was puzzled, but Faith only grinned trying not to laugh, "Norm's the best customer here, B."
And the Chosen Two left, a laughing Faith pulling still-confused Ebony with her.
...to be continued...
