I Want to Belong

Rating: PG
Author's Notes: It's the epilogue of the B/F series I've been writing. I wanted to finish
up and start writing something new. So here it is. It's very short.
Feedback: Mucho appreciated. :)
This is it. Faith thought, as Xander knocked on the door to the Scooby's domain. No turning back.
Once inside, Faith caught a few cold glares, mainly from Willow, but there was disappointment in Giles' face. And he had a right to be disappointed. He had once been Faith's watcher and she had betrayed his trust by going to the mayor. Tara seemed to be indifferent and gave Faith an encouraging smile, much to Willow's dislike. Finally Faith's eyes settled on the prone figure lying on the couch.
"What happened... to her?" Faith asked.
"We haven't a clue. She's been like it ever since you left the cemetery we imagine." Giles answered.
"Oh god! I... I did that to her" Faith held back tears, she wasn't going to cry in front of the Scooby Gang. "I swore to myself that I'd never hurt her again and I have" Faith took Buffy's hand in her own.
"B... Wake Up... It's me Faith." Faith said gently, pushing blonde hairs away from hazel eyes.
"Could you tell us what happened?" Giles' asked. Faith explained. From fighting the vampires in the mansion till playing playstation with Xander. "She just wants you I imagine then." Giles said. "I can assure you, Faith. Buffy loves you. Heart and Soul. And I hope that you are sincere about this. Because if your not..." he paused, gaining emphasis on his next words. "You will suffer the consequences."
Faith looked Giles' in the eyes, as he said that. And she was truly frightened. Never had she seen something like that in anyone. It wasn't anger. And he wasn't mad. It was just protectiveness. The need to protect Buffy.
"I love her." She made sure Giles was looking at her when she said it.
"So do we," Willow said, stepping closer to Faith. "Which is why we don't want to see her hurt again."
Faith was awed by the Scooby Gang and their closeness. And she decided she wanted to be part of that. To belong. And that was the first thing she told Buffy when she woke up. "I want to belong."
