	YOUR LIGHT
	you're the one
	I'll never be
	standing so tall
	while I stand below
in you I see the light
	try and try
	I just might
	learn to be like you
	in just some simple ways
	celebrate all thats right
	and ignore the rest
	you've been through it all
	but your eyes tell lies
	no one would know
	the things you've seen
	still you smile
	head held high
	and we all stare
	wishing for your light

Buffy turned at the door, pausing suddenly unable to leave. Faith looked up for a minute, hopeful that maybe things could be different.

"You know Faith, this could be different, if you didn't shove me away everytime I got too close," Buffy stood paused in the doorway, waiting as Faith processed the fact that what Buffy had told her was the hard truth she had always known. She had been so obsessed with making Buffy love her that she had pushed her away, instead of trusting love to bloom she had reached into the ground and tried to pull it forth, not very effective, it had only served to push Buffy away, made Faith go crazy anytime Buffy said something that in any light could be taken as an insult. Buffy sighed and walked out the door, taking Faith's silence as a goodbye. Faith still sat on the edge of the bed where she had been since Buffy and her came in over an hour ago, where she had listened to all of Buffy's worries and fears, and proceeded to stomp all over them making the other girl feel like trash, finally Buffy had stood and walked quietly to the door.

Now Faith stared at the door the other girl had dissapeared through. Bullshit, that's what this all was, fucking Bullshit that she created and maintained to make herself feel safe. Well fuck safe. Faith grabbed her jacket pulling it on as she crossed to the door, swinging it wide she stepped out into the rain that had been battering the window for the past hour. Delighted with the oppertunity to truly taste her the rain gnawed savagely on her quickly soaking through her light tank top. Luckily the jacket kept some of her dry, she looked one way and then the other with no sign of Buffy. She headed toward Buffy's house, figuring she was probably heading there as fast as possible. The rain glimmered teasingly in the streetlights, teasing Faith with fake promises of light in her otherwise dark world, it gave the night a beauty to mask the savagery Faith knew existed.

Strolling through the rain was almost soothing to Faith, it felt cleansing, as she passed the park she saw a small figure huddled on a bench making no effort to hide from the rain, or anything else that might be lurking. Taking a detour, Faith crossed the park over to the girl, and was surprised to see it was Buffy sitting huddled on the bench, legs drawn up to her chin, even with the rain running down her face, Faith could see she was crying, slowly Faith sat next to her, Buffy didn't aknowledge her presence.

"I love you B," Faith started unexpectently. "I fucking love you so goddamn much that I act like a fucking retard." Faith stared into the distance, trying to focus on the same far off something Buffy apparently saw.

No luck.

"About all the shit I said earlier B, that was wrong, I shouldn't have trashed on you like that, but, I don't fucking know how to deal with the shit, you're fucking perfect, and, I'm so not. I mean you have a loving family, the fucking scoobs, Giles, everything. And me, just the brand new fuck up in town."

"I'm not prefect Faith, I am so far from perfect," Buffy sniffed wiping her eyes. "If you had been around before you would already know that, all the shit with Angel. God, I am not perfect." Faith turned pulling a leg up on the bench next to her facing Buffy, reaching one arms across her she gently cupped the side of Buffy face, turning her towards her. The light reflected equally off the tears of heaven and of Buffy's own eyes, though Faith considered them one and the same, Buffy didn't pull away as Faith inspected her, eyes sliding over her face, memorizing every line. Rain dripped off Buffy's hair sliding, twisting down Faith's arm. Faith leaned forward her other hand simultaniously sliding onto the small of Buffy's back as hre lips stopped a fraction of an inch from Buffy's, she paused there silently wondering if she should do this, a little nod from Buffy was all the encouragement she needed and their lips connected, rain still washing the tears down their faces, and hands damply wrapping around eachother, the night forgetting they were there.

The End
