Marry Me

	::I wanna laugh
	Until I cry
	Wake up with you each day 'til the day that I die
	Let's go to New Orleans
	And watch the parade
	Take funny pictures, eat jambalaya and drink lemonade::

It's one of those songs where you just can't help but look over at her. And I do, I look over, she's driving, which is wicked scary anyway even without all this apocalypse shit going on, she's gorgeous. Concentrating on driving, people are still trying to get out of town, so the streets are busy by Sunnydale standards. She looks over and smiles.

"Isn't this the best song? Our song," she says before turning her eyes back to the road.

Our song, something I have to admit I have thought about her saying to me, I was in prison a while, and had many nights to lay in bed thinking. Never could sleep, I didn't sleep much when I was running around slaying all night, in prison I spent way too much time not doing much, didn't lead to much need for sleep. Our song.

	::And when the day is finally over
	We stumble home
	Before we sleep
	Baby, marry me::

She's still listening to the song; a little smile on her lips, even turned it up a bit. Marry me; spend the rest of your life with me. Let me wake up every morning holding you. I know that you can sleep in anytime, I'd be up before you I know that, it'd be great. I love watching you sleep, wish I could do it every morning, I'd probably play with your hair, not enough to wake you, just enough to be touching you.

	::I wanna drive
	'Til we get lost
	Lie in a field staring up at the sky
	While you point out the Southern Cross
	And somehow I know
	Without asking why
	That you love me more in a minute
	Than anyone could in a lifetime::

Now that is so true. I mean sometimes I wonder if you really get that, but it's true. I do love you that much, I hope you know it, but I know how you are, I saw you with Angel, and farm boy, you honestly don't believe someone can love you that much. I mean not that I really have that much to say since I don't think anyone could ever love me like that either, but we all know what I did, what did you do?

	::Dancing in the parking lot
	While the band plays inside
	Sweep me off my feet
	Baby, marry me::

Marry me, assuming we live that long right? Assuming we don't die in the next couple weeks, which at this time seems totally likely, I mean how many of those potentials have already died right? Saw we live though, I know we can't really get married, not legally at least, but wouldn't it be nice to just be together? Do you get that?

	::We don't need no preacher man
	Readin' from the Good Book
	And I don't want no fancy dress
	Ain't no ceremony for the vows that I took
	From the moment I met you
	I have been blessed...::

Not that I ever really liked priests, but after that fucking Caleb guy, really no priests. Any promises I made you, they would be forever though. I know that is hard to accept with our history, but it's true.

	::So let's make a toast
	And drink up the wine
	Here's to you lying here next to me
	Until the end of time::

Lying with you is definitely the best thing since I got here, too many people not enough beds, works out in my favor. Got to share your bed, I mean sure there were more than a few potentials on the floor, sleeping bags, snoring, talking in their sleep. But I was sleeping with you again, felt like the few times we did that before. My arm wrapped around your waist, you snuggled against me. Wow.

	::Wherever you are
	I wanna be
	And anything that means anything to ya
	Means everything to me::

That I mean with everything in my soul. Everything. I want to be with you wherever that is. In this car, fighting demons in a cemetery, sleeping, laughing, dead. I'm fighting this fight for you; you're the one who needs to protect people like this. This is crazy, if it wasn't for you I would be high tailing it outta here with all the other good folk of Sunnydale. This is your war, but I'll be your army.

	::Sneakin' out the back door
	While they're throwin' the rice
	And they'll talk for weeks
	But we're all we need::

Wish we could sneak outta this. That's how I see it too, when this is all over we just jet away from here. Fucking head for Cancun or some shit. A real holiday in the sun, just kick back for a couple weeks. I could get into that.

	::So baby, if you're free
	Marry me...
	Baby, marry me...
	Marry me...::

Marry me, could I ever really say those words to you? I feel like I can, I feel like I want nothing more than to ask you that. Have your permission to love you forever, make a real life with you. Sure everything is against it, everything says we'll die young. Fuck that shit man, whatever, so fucking what. I love you, totally, completely, so much that I swear to fucking god it hurts.

She pulls the car over, putting it in park. Spike looks over at you, waiting for instructions.

"Alright, so me and Faith will do a couple more sweeps, you tell the others to get some sleep."

"Right then, careful out there," Spike leaned over kissing you more gently than I ever would have thought he could, you lean into him, smiling at him as he pulled away.

"Course I'll be careful," you nod. I got out before Spike; you two continue your little kisses for another second before his door opens slowly.

"Later then," he heads up the walk. I climb in slamming the door.

"Everything okay Faith?" You ask your brow furrowing.

"Yeah B, everything's fine." Yeah I just love watching you and undead sped boy being all lovey dovey, I love riding around watching you two holding hands. I love listening to your song. Marry me? Yeah right.

The End
