It was probably a few months since the battle with the First, and me and B were just getting back from our weekly patrol; everything seemed eerily quiet, none of the yelling and running around that we usually came back to. Then we heard Dawn’s voice laughing out what sounded like ‘left hand green’, followed by wild laughter and scattered cat calls. I gave B a wicked grin as I realized what was going on and she just grinned right back at me. Y’know, I think I really like this new B, none of that awkward blushing I was used to in response to my suggestive comments and facial expressions; no, now she played right along. We walked through the entrance way and opened the door to the living room; and there was Dawn with the spinner and Vi, Rona and Ken in various states of discomfort as Vi tried to get her hand between Rona’s legs to reach the last remaining green circle.

“Right foot blue!” Dawn called out. Ken snaked her leg around Vi’s right hand, which was currently resting on a yellow circle, to get her foot to the circle Rona was aiming for before she could get there. Suddenly Vi gave a little squeak as Ken’s leg nudged her arm and put her off balance, effectively sending her tumbling into Rona as she tried to get her leg around Ken.

The two younger girls lay sprawled on the mat as Ken jumped up and raised her arms triumphantly over them, shouting “I WIN!”

“Well done Brat, well done.” B cracked a grin while I clapped politely for the victor, and everyone looked up at us, seemingly noticing us for the first time since our arrival. “Not bad for a Newbie.”

“You think you can take me, Slayer?” Ken asked, a wicked grin spreading over her face.

“Do I think I can put a little Potential, sorry, Slayer, in her place?” I crossed my arms at my chest and looked down, appearing to be contemplating the challenge. “Why yes, yes I do.”

“Oh, it’s on now, Psycho!” Ken proclaimed as she walked up to me, right into my space, and it looked like she was trying to inflate herself; like a fucking midget who managed to find itself face to face with a grizzly. It was so damn cute, and I couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped my lips. “You and me, right here, right now.”

“Not so fast Next Gen, what’s the fun of twister with just two people?” I cocked my head a little and raised an eyebrow at B. “What do ya say, B? Up for this little challenge?”

“Yeah, why not? Tonight was slow girlfriend, and I need to let loose a little,” B spoke for the first time since we got back. Did I mention how much I love this new and improved Buffy? “And what’s better than kicking a little newbie ass? Besides, it’s educational,” I raised my eyebrow a little further in question. “What? They gotta learn how the big girls do it. Don’t want to send them out in the world with only mediocre twister skills; it helps with flexibility.”

“Wow B, you put way too much thought into this.”

“Don’t I always?”

“True, I find it endearing.”

Before B could respond, cuz I knew she wanted to, Ken cut into our little banter session. “Are we gonna do this, or are you two gonna start bickering again?”

“You up for it, Brat? Just you and the two big bad Slayers?”

“I can take you both.” Man, I really had question Red’s lesbian status, cuz that girl’s got some balls.

“Are you sure about this Sweetie?” the witch asked, all full of concern and worry. Well, aint that sweet?

“What do I got to loose?”

“Only her pride,” B whispered in my ear, making me chuckle a little. Ken shot us a piercing glare as she walked over to the mat and readied herself; the look of pure determination on her face made me want to fall over laughing, but I restrained myself.

“Slayers ready?” Dawn asked, you just know she was loving this. As much as she overplays the whole little sister stuck in the shadows of her over achieving sister bit, I could always tell how much she looked up to B, how much she liked to see the Slayer in action. She was a lot like me, really.

We both gave little upward nods as we moved to the opposite side of the mat from Ken. “Let the battle of the Slayers commence!” she proclaimed like that fucking announcer on Iron Chef. B’s gotta make her cut back on her daily Food Channel viewing, I swear.

Me and B stretched out our muscles a little, getting all the kinks out from the patrol; then she smiled widely at me as I gave her a wink for good luck as we took off our socks.

“Left hand red!” Dawn shouted out the result of the first spin. I nodded quickly to B, letting her take the end while I got the middle, facing Ken. I’ve always been all about the middle, everyone knows it. In the heat of the battle is where I like it best. I stuck my ass in the air, right where I knew B’s face was, and wiggled it around a bit. I got a nice smack on the ass for it, too. Ken raised a questioning eyebrow at me and I just winked back.

“Left foot green!” came the next spin result, and we all moved so we were now facing the wall perpendicular to where we all started.

“What, the Chosen Two are at it and no one thought of informing me?” Xander whined as he entered the room.

“Don’t get too excited, Xan. Besides, we’re only on the second spin,” B assured, waving her right limbs to show that they weren’t even in play yet.

Several more spins went by without much consequence. It wasn’t til Dawn proclaimed ‘right hand yellow’ that things started to get interesting. See, here is where I started Ken’s lesson for the night. A little Synchronized Slaying 101.

“See Ken, the first thing you need to know about slaying,” I began as I arched myself into an upward facing back bend for Buffy to get her hand under me. “What really draws the line between Slayer and Potential…”

“Left foot red.”

“Is cooperation,” I explained as I swung my left leg over my right and B ducked underneath it. “Working as one with your fellow Slayer.”

“Holy fuck,” I heard Xander exclaim at my display of Slayer flexibility and I smirk to myself.

“Right foot blue.”

“To be able to come out on top, or just flat out survive…” I went on as I flipped over so I was now facing down; my arms were crossed, but my legs were now far better off as I slipped my right foot between Ken’s. “You have to work together.”

“Left hand blue, change up.”

B’s hand went to where my hand used to be, and mine to hers. “Cuz working against each other to get to the top…” Ken was forced to put her hand next to my foot, between her own legs, making her very unstable. “Will only lead to both of you going down.”

“Left foot green.”

B put her foot straight out in front of me, while I went to the side a little, getting up into Ken’s personal space. “Check,” I said softly, making B grin and Ken look confused. Me doing this forced her to do one of two things: get her left foot around the rest of her body and my hand, or try to get it to the other side of me and B. B smirked knowingly at me as Ken’s face contorted with concentration and pain as she tried to figure out how to get herself out of this mess.

She opted for the first: going around herself. And she failed miserably.

“Check mate,” I said as she crumbled. “See, all about the team work, babe.”

I smirked at Ken as she sulked back to Red, giving me the evil eye as she sat. “Just wait Slayer, just wait.”

“Them’s fightin words, girl,” I said with a smirk and B just nudged me slightly, getting my attention back to her.

“Ready to continue this?”

“You bet your cute little ass I am.”

...to be continued...
