One Night

Disclaimer: Don't own nothin'.
Author's Notes: This is set in season 3 during graduation and
basically it's fluff. It might not make sense but it's
kinda an idea of what could have happened had they
both been in the hospital overnight by themselves with
no memory of the fight or even Faith going evil.
Feedback: YES PLEASE. Lots of feed back. Whether you
liked it hated it, didn't get why I bothered wasting
my time? Whatever, tell me.
Buffy stirred in the hospital bed as she struggled to open her eyes. When she finally succeeded all she saw was darkness. It seemed as if everyone had gone home and she were the only one left in the entire hospital. There was no noise except for the slight buzz of the monitor somewhere to her left. Buffy got up and felt her way along the wall until she reached a light switch. The room was suddenly illuminated and Buffy had to squint her eyes as they weren’t accustomed to the light. When her eyes finally adjusted she saw that there was a curtain separating the room into two. Buffy slowly made her way across the room and pushed the curtain aside.
What she saw took away her breath. The younger slayer occupied the only other bed in the room and she looked worse than ever imaginable. There were wires and tubes poking out of Faith’s arms, head and chest.
This is wrong, Buffy thought. Faith shouldn’t be here, shouldn’t be looking like this.
She rushed over to the younger slayer and began to remove the tubes.
Tears filled her eyes and they soon turned into sobs. She hates hospitals, she hates them. She doesn’t belong here, she thought over and over again. She suddenly heard a groan from the younger girl.
“Faith,” Buffy whispered.
“B,” Faith whispered back, her voice scratched and deep. “Where are we?”
“We’re in the hospital Faith,” she answered.
Faith’s eyes suddenly went wide and Buffy could see the panic settling deep inside.
“Why are we in the hospital,” she tried to sound calm but Buffy could see through the façade, she always could.
Buffy suddenly realized she didn’t know why either of them were there.
“I don’t know,” Buffy said. “Maybe fought a really tough demon and got hurt.”
“Can-Can we go now?” Faith asked in small voice.
“I suppose so.”
Faith tried to get out bed but there were still some wires that held her back, she pulled the blanket aside and sat up, which caused her a great deal of pain.
“B, there’s something wrong, my stomach, it hurts.”
Buffy lifted up Faith’s gown and saw that there was a huge gash in her stomach.
“Oh, God Faith. How did you get that?”
Faith looked down. “My worst nightmares.”
Faith tried to get up again but no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t. Something held her back.
“B, I can’t get up. Please help me, please,” Faith beginning to get hysterical now.
Buffy tried ripping at the tubes and wires and pulling at Faith but nothing could make her get up.
Faith was beginning to panic and Buffy was getting worried.
“Faith, it’s ok, it’s ok. When the doctors come we’ll ask them to get you out.”
Faith sighed. “I’m gonna be here for a while then, huh?”
“I promise I’ll stay with you.” Buffy whispered.
“B?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m tired.”
“Just lie down and close your eyes for a while baby,” Buffy said tucking strands of hair behind Faith’s ear.
Faith reached for her hand, “You won’t leave me.”
“Never.”
Buffy climbed next to the brunette and wrapped her arms around her, protecting her from the world.
“I’ll watch over you,” she promised.
Faith smiled and they both drifted off to sleep.
Buffy woke up the next morning. She sat up in her hospital bed, finding that Faith was no longer in her arms. A nurse entered the room.
“Oh, you’re up. Good.”
“Where’s Faith?” Buffy asked.
The nurse looked somewhat confused but she just pointed to the closed curtain.
Buffy got up and retraced the steps of the previous night.
“What’s wrong with her?”
“She’s in a coma,” the nurse answered.
She stood looking at the sleeping beauty until the events of the past few months flooded her head again. She remembered Faith’s arrival in Sunnydale, she remembered the fun they had, she remembered Faith killing Finch, Faith betrayal, the fight, putting Faith in a coma.
She remembered the previous night and how she and Faith spent it together, no memories, no strings attached.
She also remembered their dream, where they only had a vague recollection of events, where Faith told her how to defeat the mayor.
Buffy bent down and kissed Faith’s forehead.
“I meant what I said, I’ll never leave you,” she whispered and left the room, ready to prepare for war.
