Buffy had her hands tucked in her pocket as she sat leaning against her headboard. She had gone home after slaying with Faith. She loved the time she spent with the other slayer but she seemed so careless. It seemed like she almost wanted to die, like she wanted one of these vampires to end it for her so she didn't have to do it herself. As she thought of the beautiful dark haired girl came on the radio. As she listened it seemed the song was made for the dark haired slayer.
She heard the words etch into her mind as images of the dark slayer played in her head. "I couldn't tell you why she felt that way, she felt it everyday. And, I couldn't help her I just watched her make the same mistakes again." Buffy saw herself in past memories reaching out to the dark slayer as she turned away, the night at the prom, on nights that they went slaying. While Faith pounded on the vamps Buffy would try to stop her, the anger that she had scared Buffy. But how many times can you reach out to someone that doesn't want you.
The song had played some more it was talking of how she wants to go home but Buffy knew that much didn't apply to Faith. Buffy did not know what had happened in her past but she could tell that she ran from it every waking minute. "Her feelings she hides her thoughts she can't find. She's losing her mind. She's fallen behind. She can't find her place. She's losing her faith. She's fallen from grace. She's all over the place."
Buffy thought of all the times that Faith said she was 5by5. Buffy knew that wasn't true, she knew the girl was hurting but how could she help. She also knew that her feelings for Faith went way beyond friends but she didn't know what to do about it. She had never liked a girl and until Willow came out she had never even considered acting on it.
"She wants to go home, and nobody's home. Where she lies broken inside, there is no place to go, no place to dry her eyes. Broken inside." Would Faith ever open up and let Buffy in? How could Buffy ever tell her what she was feeling? "God!" Buffy hollered in aggravation as she jumped off the bed and grabbed her jacket too restless to lay around anymore. She headed out the door to walk around and get some fresh air.
Meanwhile Faith was inside a local bar drinking a crown and coke. Way more crown with a little coke just the way she liked it. The place was packed because there was some girl that was supposed to be singing. She supposedly was really popular but Faith hadn't listened to the radio much. She pretty much just listened to the same cd's over and over. She would like to have kept slaying with B, but she went home. Once she left Faith had too much time to think, and what's the best thing for that. Well Faith laughed a little, actually that would be sex but drinking runs a close second.
"Man, B has no idea how much I like her bein around." Faith thought miserably. It seemed that the girl occupied Faith's mind constantly. When other shit wasn't plaguing her mind that is. But with all the other sorry shit in there it was refreshing to have that hot little blond in there. Buffy's smile could lighten up Faith's day instantly. When she was around Faith felt like there might be somewhere she belonged. But then everyone else would show up and Faith was left standing alone.
Everyone started clapping as Faith looked up. The girl coming on stage was hyper as hell. She started singing a song about a skater boy and Faith kind of tuned her out content to think of her misery and her B. But the next song the girl started to sing got Faith's attention.
The girl's voice was nice "I cannot find a way to describe it, It's there inside all I do is hide. I wish that it would just go away what would you do, you do? if you knew…what would you do?" Faith grinned a small smile imagining what Buffy would do if Faith told her she had fallen for her. The girl would be running scared, not that Faith blamed her. Faith had no trouble seeing her own faults, she knew that they had been pointed out to her often enough. She wouldn't be any good for anyone, but that knowledge didn't make being by yourself any easier.
"I feel like I am alone, all by myself I need to get around this. My words are cold I don't want them to hurt you if I show you I don't think you'd understand cause no one understands." Faith wanted so much to tell Buffy how she felt but she knew that B was better off settling down with some all American boy and living in the house with the white picket fence. Why bother with damaged goods when you could have the top of the line. What Faith had to tell Buffy could only bring them pain so why say anything at all.
"All the pain I thought I knew all these thoughts lead back to you back to what was never said back and forth inside my head I can't handle this confusion I'm unable come and take me away."
The girl singing seemed to locked inside Faith's head telling her every thought. Faith swallowed her drink down and grabbed her jacket heading out the door as she heard the song ending.
"Take me away, Take me away, Take me away." Faith was walking fast with her head down not paying attention to where she was going. She bumped into someone knocking her over. She glanced down and offered her hand out to help the girl up, and as Buffy took Faith's hand in hers they both heard… "Take me away."
