Waiting

"Faith, what is your problem." Buffy asked as Faith threw her things into her bag.
"Nothing B I do not have a problem. What's your problem?"
"I'm not the one walking out F. That's you. Is this because of that one fight Faith. God you can be such a kid sometimes."
Faith looked at her and Buffy got nervous as she saw the rage in Faith's eyes.
"Buffy you screwed around on me. With Spike. What is it with you and dead guys anyway? Am I not enough for you?"
"Faith it was before we had become a real thing. We were just kinda playing around, you and me."
Faith turned around and grabbed Buffy by the shirt. "See that's where you are wrong B. I was never just playing around. I have dreamt of this all my life so I do not think it is something to play with. A heart is a very serious thing to mess with B. So tell me was this all a game to you. Were you and me just a challenge?"
"Faith quit taking every thing so serious I love you not Spike."
"Okay B what would you do if I slept around on you."
"I'd probably be pissed but Faith it is not gonna happen again I swear."
"You're right B it ain't. This is breakin my heart B but I can't just play games with you. I want something real not a game."
Buffy grabbed Faith to her in a hug and said "this is real Faith. We are real. Please don't walk out on this."
"No B if this was real you would have never played this game. I gave you my heart from day one. No hesitations, no worries, no fear. B, I love you baby with all my heart but if this is a game to you I can't play. I have never left myself open for this."
Buffy looked up with tears in her eyes and said "I want you to be happy Faith, I want to be happy, you make me happy, it's just confusing."
Faith wrapped Buffy into a hug and said "baby, I do not want you to hurt. I think it's best I leave."
"Is that what you want Faith? Do you not want there to be an us? I won't do it again Faith. I swear. I love you baby. Please don't do this!"
Faith picked up her bag and headed towards the door. Buffy watched unsure what to do. She was not sure what to say. "Faith, I have waited a lifetime for you. If you leave I will still wait. Forever if I need to."
Faith looked back at Buffy and said "I am not worth waiting on Buffy. You deserve so much more than me."
Buffy looked up and said "I'll wait."

Faith went to Willow's and crashed there. She woke up to the sound of someone banging on the door. When she went to the door she opened it to see dozens of roses covering the porch. She read one card and it said one hour, the next one said four hours. She recognized Buffy's handwriting. There were flowers to match for every half hour since Faith had walked out the door. She gathered the flowers and went to shut the door only to hear a whimper behind her. When she looked on the side of the porch there was a little golden lab, probably about six weeks old. Faith bent down and picked her up and noticed the collar under the ribbon. The dog tag said my heart belongs to Faith Summers.
Just as she started to take the dog inside Buffy came out from the side of the porch and got on one knee. "Faith, will you marry me? Be my protector, Be my love, Be my heart, my sunshine, my north star to guide me when I am lost. My lighthouse when I am lost at sea. My knight in shining armor to protect me from the unknown. Let me be your comfort, your protector, let me smile when you smile, let me hold you when you cry. Let me hold you as the nightmares plague you so my love will be the first thing you know after you are plagued by nightmares. I know you don't like Sunnydale. I do not care where we go as long as we are together baby. Faith, I have known love. I loved Angel and I like Spike but I am IN LOVE with you. I can not imagine breathing if you are not by my side. I can not imagine such a cold world as a world without you. I will spend every day in my life proving to you. No one can treat you quite as well as I will and No one will love you like I can. I will support you in any decision you make. I will stand behind you in every way. I can wait forever Faith but I'd rather not because life is too short for the what ifs. What if I don't come home tomorrow? What if you don't? Can you live with the not knowing what we could have had? Is it worth the not knowing? Do you want me to have to wait?"
Faith was crying as she looked at Buffy "Faith will you come with me?" Buffy took Faith shaking hand and led her and the puppy to the jeep. Once they left Buffy put on their song. "My December".
Faith started to say something and Buffy said "just listen." As they song played "I'd give it all away just for someone to come home to."
Buffy said "without you it all means nothing. They say you have one person meant for you. It does not matter we are both girls. You fall in love with someones heart. Not with what they look like. I am in love with your smile, your pout, your grin, your laugh. I am in love with you Faith. Do not worry about anything else, just us. Do I make you happy? Do I make you feel safe? Do I make you laugh?" Faith kept nodding her head yes. She had not been speechless much in her life but she was now.
They pulled up and Faith saw a little waterfall leading to a little pond. Buffy got out and held open the door for Faith. Faith's hands were shaking as Buffy went to the back of the jeep and got a blanket out and a candle. There was also a picnic basket in the back. Faith looked out at the sunset and noticed the different colors in the sky. There was a light purple blended gently with a light blue with a sharp orange and the sun was red as it was setting slowly.
Buffy laid the blanket out and pulled Faith down. She gently pressed her lips to Faith's neck and whispered "You are the only thing in my life I felt I have done right and I can't let you walk away without giving it my best. You have had a rough childhood and I am sorry. I know about your past and the only thing that bothers me about it is that you went through it. It does not bother me you've been with other people. They have made you who you are and that is a beautiful person. You hide behind a shell that I have been allowed a glimpse at and I would like to see more of. I was not there to protect you love in all your past but please allow me the chance to be there for you in the future."
"I will spend my life for you, Faith." Buffy reached out and pulled out a ring and with shaky hands placed it on Faith's finger. "Faith, with this ring I give my heart in hopes that we will never part. You have my soul for eternity and my name I wish to give to thee. Faith, Please marry me?" With that Buffy gently laid Faith back and pressed her lips to Faith's. Faith shakily reached out and caressed Buffy's cheeks, both girls were crying. Faith pulled her hands down underneath Buffy's shirt and Buffy said "Do you see that waterfall Faith?"
Faith whispered "yeah B I do."
"That waterfall looks like it is following the same pattern but it's not there is so much difference in every inch, every second something changes. The only thing that does not change is the fact it leads to the same place, the end. Please let my end be with you."
Faith pulled Buffy's shirt up over her head and gently carressed her nipples with her tongue. Buffy arched into her touch. Faith went to the buttons of her jeans and gently unsnapped them. She pushed them down until Buffy was naked before her. She then pulled Buffy on top of her and kissed her longingly. She teased Buffy's nipples and felt her become wet. She then gently inserted two fingers inside her. Buffy groaned and began to move with Faith's thrust. They moved together in sync in every motion. In every thrust, in every thought. Buffy collapsed on top of Faith as the release overcame her.
"Buffy, I am not sure what the future holds, but I know I feel safe with you and I like that. I like to share my happiness with you. Yes Buffy I will marry you. Please be with me through our future. I know we will have hard times but we will overcome them. I want this, you, us. B." Just then the sun went totally down but neither one held any fear because they knew together they could face whatever came to them.
