Faith rushed into the library of Sunnydale High. Willow and Cordelia just dragged her here, only told her that there was an emergency at hand but didn't give more details on the nature of the event. The Bostonian reluctantly followed the girls. She was still upset over the whole Gwendolyn Post incident, and the revelation that Angel, Buffy's undead lover was technically undead again. Some obscure higher power brought back the souled vampire from heaven and Buffy has been tending to him while hiding his existance from everyone else.
Faith, who was sure that there was a mutual attraction between the Slayers, felt betrayed. If 3 movie dates and two dinner dates apart from their nightly rendezvous for patrol was enough evidence that, she didn't know what is. At least Faith thought they were dates. Okay, so they haven't kissed yet, but Faith thought it was just a minor setback. She didn't want to scare the older girl away. But there was the time they almost kissed but was interrupted by Giles who had news of the demon of the week for them to slay. Argh! She just didn't know what to think anymore.
After the falling out she had with the blonde Slayer, Faith decided that she'd rather keep her distance. Especially since she had the impression that the Scoobie Gang didn't really regard her as a friend anyway. To them she was a mere tool, a back up, a second string. She hated to be taken for granted. Screw them! She didn't need them anyway.
Cordelia and Willow had to practically drag her to come along with them. Faith finally relented, because although she was still somewhat angry and felt alienated, she didn't want any harm to fall upon Buffy or her friends. So, when Faith pushed the door to the library open, she didn't expect to see the sight in front of her. Buffy, standing in the centre of the room in the pastel blue dress that she wore on their first date, or whatever outing that was, holding a single rose. The room was dimly lighted by a number of flashlights that were setup in various places. Heh, guess candles were out of the question since they were in a library. Wouldn't want to burn Giles' collection after all.
Faith stood there dumbfoundedly. She didn't know what to make of the situation. She looked at the girls who brought her there. Willow nudged her to make her way to the other Slayer while Cordelia merely scoffed and rolled her eyes. Faith walked slowly to the center of the room.
"B, why are you doing this?"
Buffy looked up at Faith and smiled.
"Because..."
Buffy took Faith's hands and intertwined their fingers.
"One - you're like a dream come true."
Faith's eyes widen, while Buffy invaded Faith's personal space.
"Two - just wanna be with you."
Buffy guided Faith's hands and settled them on her waist, while she stepped in closer to the brunette.
"Three - Girl it's plain to see that you're the only one for me."
Buffy released her hold on Faith's hands, only to replace them on the younger Slayer's neck.
"Four - repeat steps one through three."
Faith began to relax in Buffy's embrace, albeit still couldn't believe what was happening. She rested her forehead on the blonde's and finally allowed a tentative smile etch her face.
"Five - make you fall in love with me."
Buffy held her breath after the words left her mouth. She was sure that Faith felt the same way. If Faith didn't love her, at least the raven beauty liked her. But still, this is Faith, the girl with a cynical attitude towards relationship. Buffy felt her heart beating wildly. She started to panic silently when Faith closed her eyes. Maybe this was a bad idea after all?
Meanwhile, Faith was still not believing her reality. In a way, it was denial that was keeping her from accepting the fact that Buffy was making advances towards her. If she was in denial, it wouldn't hurt as bad when the truth kicks in, that this was another dream, or a mere trick of the mind. Could too much exposure to vamp dust create an imbalance in her brain, alluding to hallucinations? Faith half expected to find herself staring at the bleak ceilings of her motel room when she opened her eyes. Instead she was greeted by hazel eyes, staring back at her with the look she knew too well. The fear of rejection, accompanied by the look of vulnerability that goes along with it, and maybe a hint of love. Faith decided to take a plunge.
"Make me fall in love with you?"
Buffy nodded slowly. Her heart was palpatating faster. A voice in her head warned her for the rejection that was about to come, but another voice told her to wait a while and trust her instincts.
Faith gazed into those hazel orbs with such intensity. She then let a smile grace her face.
"I've already fallen and I can't get up."
Buffy's face broke out into a fullfledged grin and pulled Faith into a kiss. Soft, tentative, escalating to passionate. After a few minutes and the lack of oxygen started to register in their brains, the Chosen Ones broke apart, an equally silly grin plastered on their faces.
"Now what?"
Faith inquired. Buffy just shrugged.
"If ever I believe my work is done then I'll start back at one... "
In the background, four figures hid behind the racks of books. The dark-haired boy looked at the couple they were spying on and had a dreamy quality in his eyes, while his girlfriend just rolled her eyes.
"God, can't they get anymore mushier? I might need an insulin shot after this. All this sugary sweetness just won't do good to my figure."
The redhead was gushing while her boyfriend had an almost smile.
"A cranky Slayer is hazardous to the world, nevermind two. But two happy Slayers makes the world a better place to live in."
"Speaking of happies, I think that powerpastel girl is going to give her new girlfriend a happy right now."
"Whoa, Buffster! Didn't know she was the aggressive type."
"Bail?"
Oz arched an eyebrow, emphasizing that his words were not a question but a request.
"Now? It's just starting to get good."
Willow glared at Xander while Cordelia glowered and cuffed his head.
Buffy suddenly stopped her attack on Faith and slipped her hands from under the other girl's tank top. Faith's jacket was unceremoniously thrown to the floor earlier and Buffy was currently straddling Faith's thighs while the dark Slayer laid on her back on the research table. Faith frowned and was about to protest at the abrupt loss of desired contact when Buffy placed two fingers on the younger girl's lips and winked.
"Guys, you could go home now."
"Aw, Buff, can't we stay?"
A yelp was heard from behind the racks as Cordelia slapped Xander at the back of the head, followed sounds of shuffling as Oz and Willow dragged him to the nearest exit. Cordelia was a few paces behind them, gave the Slayers a dismissive wave and haughtily told them to carry on.
Buffy grinned at the spectacle before them while Faith just arched an eyebrow. Buffy just shrugged.
"Now, where were we?"
