Disclaimer: I do not claim to own the characters involved in this story.
I borrowed them from ME and Joss and put them in this setting conjured up by my
subconscious.
Author's Notes: This was my very first fic. It's not the first I've posted,
but I did write it first. In other words, it isn't very good. I remember all the
feminine pronouns confusing me. Contact me at Shabbadog@aol.com
if you care to say something.
"Hey there." A young blond woman walked up to a figure leaning over a railing. It was a tall, dark-haired woman watching the ocean from a balcony. The blond came up behind her girlfriend and wrapped her arms around her waist.
"Hi," replied the other, smiling slightly, almost shyly, at the voice and touch of her lover.
"Hmm, beautiful..." the shorter one murmured from behind, her chin resting on a tan shoulder. The words tickled Faith's ear, so warm and gentle. After savoring the attention, she answered.
"I know. The oceans kinda spooky-cool at night."
"What ocean?" Buffy asked softly, kissing Faith's neck. I wasn't talking about anything past here. You're what's beautiful, Buffy thought, but the words fell from her mind much before reaching her busy lips. After being with Buffy for a year, Faith was able to discern what she meant.
"Right, B, what oc- ya' know? Screw this..." Faith turned in her girlfriend's embrace and kissed her. The little game was just too much work, Faith was always more of a direct, action girl. The first kiss was passionate because Faith had thought she wanted to make love to Buffy tonight. But when they pulled back, both girls just looked at each other. Maybe it was the romantic setting of crashing waves, sand, a soft breeze and a fading sun. Or maybe it was because it was their first year anniversary. Possibly it was the beauty of both of them controlling the other. But most likely the reason for the quelling of passion was simply because the two slayers' hearts were filled with immense love and all they wanted was for the other to know this.
Faith lifted one soft finger and, very gently, trailed it down Buffy's jaw line, all the while looking into her eyes. She leaned in and lightly kissed along the line her finger had just drawn. Buffy brought Faith closer to her, wrapping one arm around her neck and caressing the smooth skin there. "I love you, Buffy," Faith whispered in her ear, speaking in a rare straightforward fashion. Buffy looked into the dark and loving gaze and whispered back, smiling, "Love you too." She paused for a deep, soft kiss, emphasizing her words. "A whole heck of a lot." Faith laughed almost silently into blond hair. She looked around the balcony for a second and then sat in a nearby chair. She took Buffy's hands in her own as they slid off from around her waist. Faith pulled her girlfriend onto her lap, and Buffy willingly came, kissing Faith's forehead before sitting in her lap. "What would you like for Christmas, pretty girl?" the dark haired slayer joked. Buffy say up, acting like an excited child. "I want a doggy and that new stake with the smiley face and sound effects!" They both laughed.
Buffy sighed and rested her head against Faith's shoulder. She reached one arm up to caress her girlfriend's cheek, and with the other she held Faith's hand. "I'd really just like more moments like these." She stroked Faith's hand and arm, her other arm falling around Faith's neck. "Hmm...I think we could pull that off. Just lemme check with my elves and we'll get right on it."
"No elves." Buffy replied. "Just Faith." She leaned up and planted a kiss on Faith's awaiting lips, then snuggled back into the crook between Faith's shoulder and head.
"'K, B," Faith said, quite happily.
With a gentle kiss to Buffy's forehead, Faith rested back against the seat, pleased with the warm and comfortable weight on her lap. The two girls absently watched the last specks of sunlight disappear, seemingly dropping into the water. Both were thinking about their love and all the happiness it brought. With smiles on their faces, lover in their hearts, arms wrapped around a warm body and subsequently warm arms wrapped around them, and with nothing remotely slayerish on their minds, two girls fell fast asleep on a balcony, overlooking the ocean, celebrating their first year anniversary.
Author's Notes: In retrospect this story was too sappy. I don't like it at all but since its typed I'm going to let it be read. I promise better stuff is on the way, it's just unfinished.
